Replaced Bose Stereo Systems

After continuously searching the forum and not finding threads talking about people's set-ups that have replaced the stock Bose System on Touring FDs I have decided to try and make a new thread where everyone can post what they have done to get rid of the stock system. I know I am not the only one that has grown tired with the stock system and have asked question after question trying to figure out the best way to set-up a new system. So for all you people that have replaced the BOSE system, please share with the rest of us exactly what you did, and if possible post some pictures! It would be a big help to me and the rest of the forum.

you'll need two 6.5" speaker holders from a base model, if you want to replace the door speakers

i recommend putting a center speaker gauge pod in, and putting some fultron tweeters on the upper apillar to raise the sound stage

if you want to do rear speakers, again, you'll need the speaker holders from a base model or R1

just pull the rear tube

a regular mazda wiring harness adapter from a 91-00 will work if you're not using the bose systems, if you are, a special adapter that costs about $50 will be needed

crutchfield has them

you'll also need something to fill the extra din slot, I got a $13 kit that gave me a cd pocket there from a local audio store

I'm not using the front speaker brackets; I hacked up the bose box. We'll see how well it works. I should finally be able to install the speakers next week.

What I wanted to know, for those people that ran their own wiring, is how did you get the speaker wire from the chassis into the door?

Yeah I thought of that, that's why I got a set of foam baffles from Crutchfield. They help keep the sound waves from resonating throughout the door.

Any of you audio-maniacs that tackled replacing the Bose system happen to have a couple of the little trim strips that go alongside the Bose dash units?
Mine are missing.
