Removing Hard Water Stains from Paint

I just got home a bit ago with our new Black 93 R1 and it has sat for about 8 months.

The car has hard water stains on it that do not come out with a regular wash.

What can I use to get them out? Its bad, the whole car is like this and I'd like to get it polished up.

Thanks

I tried vinegar and water, didn't work.

Then I used some old 3M Swirl mark remover, took it right off and the paint looks great for a 11 year old car.

Going to wash it right now and finish up the entire car.

Thanks for the tip though, I tried clay on an older car I had but it didn't help.

It's a little late now, but FWIW, Meguiar's ColorX is worth a try before using harsh(er?) abrasives. From what I can tell, it's a chemical-only treatment, not an abrasive.

I've had them before. You need to do the Meguires clay bar wax treatment. Its alot of work but you can rub the spots out that way.

The car needed a good polish either way and it turned out great.

There still is some dirt almost ingrained in the clear, tried clay bar but no luck in getting it out.

I wish I would have taken before and afters now, it was REAL bad before I started.

This 3M stuff was a breeze. One nice thing about the RX7 over my older cars is it so easy to clean.

there is a product called, Hawaiian Island Shine waterspot remover availble locally here in Hawaii. in anycase, it has been able to take off every waterspot i have come across with little to no effort on my part (you just keep reapplying it for about 5-15 mins).

check out this website to get some

http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=1.9.5579

the weird thing is that the lable on my bottle is different then the one on that bottle (on the web site)

3M Swirl Mark Remover isn't very abrasive at all. Its 99% FILLER......read *FILLER* It probably just covered them up. Give it a few washes and see if they return or spray a small area with 50/50 h20 alcohol. If they return, get some 3M light rubbing compound.

Oh, is this the stuff I saw at Pepboys with "For Dark [or light] Colored Vehicles" at the top of the label? I bought a bottle of that last year, saw that part of the label, and took it back.

Know what's in Meguiar's #9? I'm looking for something to follow the light rubbing compound with, before a pure polish.

a meguiars polish and some elbow grease will do the job. i think the stuff is labeled as a scratch remover or something....its in their tan bottle line. works like a charm
removed LOTS of oxidation from my car and fading...brought back color and all of that good stuff!

STAY AWAY FROM ABRAISIVES if at all possible. you want to leave things like rubbing compounds and such as a last resort...and even then, take it to a pro. if you dont know what youre doing with those, ur gonna eat away your clear coat/paint and make it worse than before

Meguiar's Dual Action Polish/Cleanser is a good easy to use polish. Try that NoOne, many people have had good results with it
