Question Recaro Sport Extreme?

The Recaro Sport is apparently available in a lightweight carbon fiber backed version called the Extreme which comes in at 15lbs and is reclining. I have yet to find any detailed info on this new product but apparently they did have an example at SEMA this year. Anyone take photos of it? Anyone have links or any more info? TIA.

See if you can spot the seat you are talking about in this slideshow (provided by Recaro NA).

I'll talk to a friend of mine. He's a dealer for Recaro....will see if he has heard of anything.

I "believe" it's in #2 of 48. The one with the guy sitting in it (blue shirt) adjusting the back. I've seen the slide show before and it's only wetted my appetite for images of these seats! I believe they're just what I've been looking for.

I followed up w/ my friend. He says that you may have been looking at the Recaro that is ONLY available for the Porsche Carrera GT. It is an OEM offering only. No model name is given/designated at the moment.

It is the one on the pedestal in this pic

You've got some pretty damn expensive taste. hahahaha

The RZ seats are rearco and I believe they make them with a carbon back. www.workspower.net . and look under seats. They're like $4,200 a set.

No, it's not the Carrerra GT seats..they're fully reclining versions of the new "Sport" seat. There's a blurb in the "What's New" about them in I believe, European Car. I'll have to hit Barnes&Noble and get the exact mag to be sure. But there is a new version of the sport out with a carbon back.

I'm familiar with the RS/RZ seats that came in the JDM RX7's. One can find used pairs in black for around $2K. Red are about $4K. They're non-reclining however.

Here's a pic pulled from the slide show on their site...notice the arrows pointing to two different seats. Now that I look at the eyelets on the seat with the guy in it, they are pretty big, but not C GT big. The one behind it has some sort of plastic back. I'll try and give Recaro a call to get the skinny on them:-)

You can get them as take offs in Japan. JT Imports can get them. I have a friend who is also on this forum that has a pair of RZ in red through JT Imports.

they made more black rz seats than red ones so i would have thought that they would be more abundant. the black set is from the older rz so maybe thats why they are harder to find. from what i understand they only made about 300 sets of the red rz seats. just add the number of 2001 rz's plus the number of 2002 spirt r type a's and thats the total set of red seats.

I know....I just email JT again who verified that they are hard to find STILL. However you can get red.

He does see some blacks every once and awhile but they are usually in horrible shape.

I can vouch for how hard RZ recaro seats are hard to find. I talked to Chuck from Rotary Extreme and Jason from JT. It really depends on how deep your pockets are.

Ok found out a bit more information....Recaro hasn't returned my call as of yet but I may have had the wrong department.

Check out the March 2004 European Car magazine (has the new BMW 5 series on the front), page 95. There are two new versions of the Recaro Sport. The Extreme is a kevlar-backed version that weighs in at 15kg with mounting hardware. The comfort is the other model and I couldn't care less about comfort :-) I have a phone number and will call on Monday.

Yet more dead end information...I finally had some corespondence with Recaro regarding the seat. I was told that it doesn't exist. I then mentioned the Extreme is mentioned in type in the latest European magazine. Their product PR person e-mails me back asking for a scan of the article and I oblidged. No word on her reaction yet. Not sure if it's a typo on European's part (unlikely due to the "depth" of the info) or if Recaro USA customer service has no clue what products are in the pipeline. I'll keep everyone posted on what I find out.
