Recaro Pole Position Seat Fitment

Hi there,

Finally made a decision on my seat purchase. I test fitted Bride, Sparco and Recaro, the Recaro Pole Position (Not SPG, but the entry level model) was by far the most comfortable for me. I'm 6'1 190lb. Just want to make sure there is no fitment problems with this seat in the FD before my order arrives. I also ordered FD specific brackets from recaro, I'll let you guys know how well it fits.

so has anyone installed this seat? Does everything clear?

Thanks,

Randy

ohh btw mod, please don't move this to the interior section, as you know aftermarket seat fitment in FD is a FD specific problem =)

I didn't know you could get FD-specific brackets from Recaro North America.

Fitment will be close but should work. Please post pictures of the fitment and details about where you purchased the seat(s).

I will do that. The brackets are apparently ordered from Recaro JAPAN, they say it'll take about a week.

However, Recaro recently changed their seat names in U.S. I wonder what the Poleposition SPG looks like? The one I ordered is just Poleposition. 1fookntitefd, can you please post pictures of your Poleposition SPG seat install.

The Poleposition shoulder width according to Recaro sizing chart is 570mm. The Sparco Corsa/Evo shoulder width which I know rubs the door is 599mm. Bride Artis3 which is a guaranteed fit is 550mm, Bride Vios3 Lowmax is a 560mm, I was told by Bride USA this will fit in FD.

The SPG shoulder wings are 590 as compared to the Pole Position at 570. They should fit....

It's not just the width of the shoulder wings though, it's their profile and height that also determine whether or not they are going to hit against the door. I think you'll be fine though as long as you get the right brackets.

Ok update guys, well the recaro rail for FD left side doesn't exist. I was told by the recaro master distributor here in California, DeCorsa that they're available. But after ordering them, and waiting for 3 weeks, they told me that these doesn't exist.... Recaro have great seats, but the quality of their U.S. distribution network is ehh.....

Just placed order for a Bride vios3, I will post pics after receiving them.

Bummer.

BTW, I learned that some of the Bride rails will work with some of the Recaros....

Bride FG rails should work with the those recaros. My friend has one and they're "almost" identical(size wise).

I've seen a post where the person who used bride rail with recaro spg ended up with the seat being too high.

Can you post pictures of your custom bracket and install? I no longer have the corsa seat, but it might help other owners in the future.

in these pics you can see the bracket, the small amount of space left to the door and the space left at the console. WHen I have these brackets redesigned they will be free from the door.

That's a nice bracket you have made, does the seat sit lower or higher than the stock seat?

I think lower, cause I have more space between my legs and the steering wheel. However I have moved the seat more backwards cause I have long legs. This will also cause the seat to sit lower.

If you can measure the height from the floor till the seat (sitting) I can do the same and see if its really lower. Im still redesigning the brackets and they can be a tad lower, however I think that will cause clearance issues at the doorcards etc.
