Rear Speaker Grills in FD

I know to get 6x9's in the back, you need those speaker grills that come in the base model. But what about the grills that come with some of the 6x9's themselves, like some of pioneer's and sony's stuff? Do any of these fit over the map pocket spaces in the back?

I beleive the oem speakers are 5x7. You would need custom brackets for 6x9. You could cut the pocket so all that is left is a ring and then have speaker cloth wrapped over it or by OEM grills. Why do you want bigger speakers in the rear? It will sound better if you only have mids and lows behind you. I beleive Pioneer has an EQ setting to change the rear sound to rear fill, JVC has crossver settings to make them low pass. You can also do a 3-way speaker setup with the 3rd larger woofer in the rear wired to the fronts with the crossover.

I broke down and ordered the OEM grills from Ray Crowe anyway, should be here in a couple of days. I figured even if I could get some aftermarket ones to fit, I'd probably like the OEM look better anyway. I didn't know they were 5x7's though? I'll have to do some searching on it.

I beleive the oem bracket will fit both 4x6 and 5x7. Yeah, the oem grill will look clean. You know when you take the pocket off there is no hole there, right? Time to pull out the dremel. What are you trying to acheive anyhow? You just want to add another pair of speakers powered by the head unit? Do you allready have a head unit?

I'm just trying to get a little bit more mid-range in there until I can get my 12" installed in the rear. I've got a set of Infinity's in the stock size (I think it's 4"?) in the doors and that's it for the moment, so it's really pitchy. Yes, I have a head unit as well.

Sticks out a bit, but I'm sure it gets the job done. I suppose if I don't like the 5x7's, I can just sell off the grills and do what you did. That looks like fiberglass, did you bondo and then glass it in?
