Rear Seats installed?

I've got a set of rear seats, with everything ready to be installed.

I'm trying to find somoene who has installed a set for a little guidance. Send me a private message; I really appreciate it.

Sounds like someones whipped. My wife wanted me to put in rear seats so we could "go for a family drive". WTF do I want my family in the car with me for. Thats my time. Just me and my sweet sweet 7.

I want the seats mainly because of storage issues:

If you can't fit something in the back or in the bins...then you have to put it on top of the bins and it slides everywhere. I can sit stuff in the seats and it shouldn't move very much.

Also, I've heard there might be some weight savings. And if I want to take more than one passenger with me out, then I'll be able to accomodate.

Still looking for someone who has done an install.

If you're trying to justify it by saying that you'd have room for another passenger, think again. There is no way any normal size person, adult or child, could fit in those seats. They'd have to sit sideways, and even then it would be very cramped. Just leave the bins, they're easier, enclosed, and they lock.

To go with that, rear seats aren't going to suddenly make your FD practical or have plenty of storage.

To go with both the above coments from 911GT2 and diablone:

Do you have a set of the seats? They're actually not that bad. Imagine the area behind your seats with the bins removed, there's a lot of room back there (definitely more room for storage than with the bins in place.)

I'm not sure about the leg room, I know it's not much, but I don't think it will be that bad with the way the seats are designed (deep buckets). Keep in mind I never said they would be comfortable or make the car practical. And as for storage, the RX-7 has plenty of storage, even with the Bose tubes; a load more than an S2000.

Also, the RX-7's rear seats have far more room than the current production automobiles: the SC430, and the TT. The seats in those cars are truely unusable.

As mine came from japan i had seats as standard, they arent bad at all, surprisingly deep and comfy, the only prob is the lack of leg room and getting in and out. But they are fine for short journeys, and i always put my shopping in them

I agree with you rotaryharcore,
My friend SWATT81 has rear seats in his FD and I'm 6'2" , just for the hell of it I tryed to see if I can fit in the back.

I pushed the front seat half way forward so a normal person can sit in front and I seat in the back pretty easy (not confortable) but duable in any case.

Like asuka42227 said, I want my FD for only me and my honney just to chill out and have funn, for everything else use the family car.

ZenTrickz,

Wait 'till you see mine installed. I've just got the side panels in at this point and they already make the car look more lux-coupe.

You mean half a passenger, or anorexic amputee midgets...right?

J/K

Honestly, I'd HATE to be the person riding in the back seats should their be any type of accident, or need to get out of the vehicle quickly.

Good luck with the conversion.

The rearseats that I have in my car which Inis hooked me up with are perfect fit and look sweet.Carrying people in the backseat is a no-no .I just got them because they weigh less then the bins.Plus at the car shows my car is the only one with jdm rear seats.

I like it because its different and semi-practical for more storage. If i had the $500 or so needed to get the seats, id defintely ditch the bins!

Got the rest in today, all but a couple details.

For rybrx7 (or anyone else with rears),

Are the rear seat support brackets bolted directly into the strut towers? Or is there a bracket bolted to the top of the strut tower that holds them in place?

I ask because I don't see any bolt holes in the strut tower, even though every other hole for the installation was predrilled and tapped.

Thanks for any help.

I took one look at that an instantly imagined people sitting in the crash-ready position taught for airplanes (knees tucked to chest, head down). LMFAO. I actually like the idea, though. The seats are really cool looking, saddle-like. They blend in well. You couldn't pay me to ride in them for an hour though, lol.
