rear hatch on 87

i just installed a new sub woofer system in my fc, this thing thumps! my only concern is that if im not careful i might crack the glass. after testing and tuning my new toys the glass looked like it had lepersy ( light spots in a grid pattern. i think it may be due to the thin clear rubber in between the glass.

has any one experienced any problems with the rear hatch getting cracked or broken from a moderatly loud sub system???

I bet the light spots where there before you just never saw them. some how i think there is only one sub that would crack the hatch all by its self.

it hink maybe someone has finally found a reason to buy that Lexan Hatch that is so "critical" in weight reduction, is anyone seriously interested in that hatch?

The pattern is normal. Same thing on mine. And I don't think the subwoofer is that loud -- come on!

dude you are not going to blow your hatch with a normal setup. I've had mine pretty damn loud and from the outside could see the glass and feel the actual body panels of the D-pillars flexing. The size/weight of the equipment needed to make glass breaking bass would be over your recomended payload in your car anyway, that's some serious ****.
An old friend of mine had 4 tens getting 1000W each in his FB and it held up...sounded like ****, but it held the power just fine, his hatch glass would actually bow up about 1/3 inch with the bass hits.
