Absolutely LOVE that kit! There is nothing "ricey" as you call it about parts from race cars, and especially from the legends RE-Amemiya.

I'll be putting that kit on my next FD.

Well heres the deal, I am currently doing research on the FD. I have an RX-8. I love the car however it is just too new for what I want to do in terms of mods. Parts are very expensive for very little gains. I have already done most mods other than a turbo. I kinda at the point where my next move is a big deal. I dont doubt that some day the renesis will have serious power, however, im afraid i wont have the car by that point so why sit and wait. The Best turbo so far cost 10k from mazsport and has yet to put down 350whp, I mean it will put more eventually but its just one road block after another and I am tired of waiting. Not to mention, 10k for 350whp is just too much money for such little power. The money is not a problem, its the fact that it yeilds so little power for that much money. So now i have settled on an engine from an FD in my 8. It done in both the Burnout RX-8 and the JIC drift RX-8 with 450hp and 530hp respectively. I can live with that haha.It was said that the JIC 8's engine and mods added up to about 10k which is how much the Mazsport kit cost only it puts down nearly 200 more hp. Of course I understand that engine swaps are not a walk in the park and would most likely add up to more than 10k. Now my 3rd option would be to sell my 8 and start over with an FD. There are pros and cons to both the engine swap and the FD. I keep going back and forth over the options. I have loved this kit for a little while now and it plays a role in the swaying of my choice. I want it but at the same time it is a little more wild then my current Mazdaspeed body kit. If there was an AD-GT kit for the 8 things might be different but there isnt and its not. So ill keep going back and forth for a little while i guess. Any comments or ideas?

"So ill keep going back and forth for a little while i guess."

Sounds like you still haven't settled on a decision yet. Do you know what it actually takes to swap an FD engine into your RX-8? Price too? I don't know anything about doing it, but i imagine that it would be very unique and not too many people have done it. That would really make your car stand out.

Have you driven an FD before, and read the FAQ's or heard about the maintaince and reliability of them? I believe there are strong points for getting an FD, as well as keeping the RX-8. It really comes down to what you REALLY want, and what your financial situation is.

Haha. I ment to say "so then i had settled on an engine swap". But no I have not made a decision and again both have there pros and cons. Pros for the swap is the uniqueness, high power hidden away, and i get to keep my car which I have been the only owner thus I know it in perfect condition. Cons are that engine swaps always have there quirks, and the price of doing something that that has been done very few times, also who knows what kind of relaibility issues I might have. Pros for an Fd are that even if i got a stock FD, I most likely would, I would have an equal to or better car then my 8 is now in nearly all fields, Getting the everything I want and need in a car that is built for it intentionally, Price of an FD vs performance is awsome even with maintenance also I get to start over with my modding and have a much wider range of mods and much better prices then the 8's. Cons are that i have to start over with modding haha, that I have a reliability issuses, however that can be helped by maintenance, also I wont really know how the prior owner was with it, also, i have to find one with low milage and in the bet condition i can find, which is getting harder all the time. That pretty much how i go back and forth. I have about 30k to start the project would should get a nice FD and cover the basic beginning mods, brakes and suspension which would leave me with the exterior and major engine mods left. Now thats not a prefect list by any means but the idea is there. Not too bad considering that that is nearly where i am right now for my 8 also. This body kit is a swaying point to some extent and i wanted to know what people thought of it. because it is so close in my mind that something like this can be a deciding factor. This is honestly my favorite body kit ever and if it came one the 8 also then it would tip the scales. I even went to the extent of emailing RE Amemiya's english email and inquired if one was to be made at some point but i have never recieved a reply. I need to drive an FD to get a feel for it to help my decision as well. So do I pioneer and make an 8 what it should be or do i go for the FD which is already proven possible for what i want to do and has the parts i want to do it with? I know 7 and 8 owners have strong opinions and i wanted to know if the amemiya kit was popular or not in hopes of helping me sway my choice either way.

Apparently, i'm the only person responding to you but anyway;

I've never heard back from the English RE-Amemiya email either. Trust me, when you drive an FD your decision will be made for you!

Is the RE-Amemiya kit popular....yes, but not many people have it due to the costs, etc.

I have to agree that the amemiya kits are gorgeous and by no mean ricey. Yea it is a popular kit but hey if it looks good why not unless your seeing it on another fd around your city there is no reason for the popularness of the kit to kick you in the other direction. It would look excellent. What color fd would you aim for.

Black nearly for sure but possibly dark blue. Oh no, seeing another FD with the kit wont turn me away, I just curious if the FD owners liked it, if they do then that is good because I do too.

Most definently like I dont have an Fd but hey if my opinion counts Ill throw it out there. Black and Dark blue would look hot with that kit. Good choices all around. Have you gotten any closer to figuring out what you plan on doing Car wise. I think both ideas are excellent, that probably doesnt help you out any for going one way or another, but hey you cant argue with a REW in any car. either way you cant loose.
