Arrow RE-Amemiya AD GT Kit - Advice needed.

Hey guys, this goes out to everyone who hast this kit (best case) or can get their hands on a car with it or just knows what i'm talking about.

heres my problem:

I got a AD GT Kit, also the fuel filler cap with the shaped attachment which was simply glued onto the cap. Unfortunately the filler cap got broke and i throwed it away (not the attachment, of course). Im pretty sure the fuel filler cap was a standard mazda one and also the hinge was standard.

As i now put in my standard filler cap i recognized that i doesn't open properly, and i'm not sure if the hinge has to be modified or if re-a supplies a different fuel cap with the kit.

I'm not sure if the standard fuel filler can be heatet and bent in the correct position (its plastic), but at least this is not the way it should be, i guess.

If anyone knows if there is an adapter or the hinge or the complete filler cap is different, please tell me!

Thanks and regards,

Probably need to post up some pics on this one. Not totally sure what you're getting at and few people have this kit but we might be able to come up with an alternative solution.

Can you be more specific about why the cap does not open? Would it help to adjust the limits of the cable release?

..first of all, sorry for my bad explanation, never handled problems like this in english, lol.

I'm about to fit the rear fender add-ons, have attached them in place with some adhesive tape for adjustment issues. Then i wanted to check if the fuel filler cap pops out correctly, but he didn't, he stuck right after the lock opens - because of the add-on.

Thats why i guess the hinge has to be changed or anything...hardly to describe it better, i will post some pics later.

If anyone has a pic showing the opened filler cap on the ad-gt rear fender, that could be helpful...

That's clearer. I don't think the english had anything to with it.

...take some time, but here are the pics. The first schows the cap closed, the last two how much it can be opended...just not enogh to put the tap in...lol

...as you can see, the problem is the addes thickness of the sidewall with the fender on - i guess the problem is the hinge itself or at least (what would be easier to change) the mounting position of the hinge.

I'd like to see some pics of the working fuel cap, or at least pis of the cap/hinge itself...

Just extend the gas cap. You can see the it's hitting because it's not flush with the fender extension. All you have to do it cut it off, add some length to the hinged arm that holds it, and out it back together.

Trying to modify the hinge to work without making the cap flush with the fender will be trick, and making it flush would be easy.

Measure how far in the cap is from the fender (looks like 1/4"-1/2"). Then remove the cap. Cut the arm, and extend it by the measurement you made. If you post a pic of the cap removed, I'll draw a line where you should cut.

...thanks, that is what already come to my mind, i will post a pic of the removed cap later.

What i don't understand is, that there is also a cover for the cap included, perhaps i make a pic with it installed (and the rest untouched) - in this way it fills the gap to the fender perfect - but when i change the hinged arm that will bring the cap itself out of position a bit (i guess so).

...perphaps anybody with this kit can post a pic of his cap/hinge...

here are the pics of the filler cap, i hope you can tell me wheres the problem.

I guess that the hinge has to be heated and bent. Correct? If thats what has to be done generally, re-a is ****, how i would call it. Or is there another filler cap included in genuine kits from re-a? (but the filler cap i got - the one that is broken - was 100% genuine mazda, i would be wondering if re-a takes mazda parts and modifies them...).

Talking Wide body kit gas cap

Yes, usually you just extend the hinge if a filler isn't included. For some of the deeper wide body kits that we sell the filler cap addition is included, but for some of the smaller ones you would have to extend the hinge.
