Those are still a tight fit...they won't adjust easily unless you cut away some of the interior molding by the recline lever. I had these seats in my FD, trust me. The bracket is kind of a bitch to get to work right, and the seats sit a lot higher than the stock seats (like maybe an inch or two, which may not sound like a lot, but it is). These are probably the best route, though, unless you have the means to get custom brackets built for other brands.

mazdaspeed. they are pricey but the fit and you can get rail too.

FWIW the DAD seats (although not "name brand") fit in the FD. ejmack1 had them.. Maybe he can shed a little light on the fitment.

If you like stock height, why not stick with stock seats? Look for R1 seats in good condition...they are probably the best looking and most comfortable seat you will find that will still be 100% functional and maintain stock height

because they don't offer nearly as much lateral support as a good racing seat probably. I used to have a Bride Brix and you wouldn't beleive how much it changed the feel of the car. Since you don't have to tense you body and brace your leg through turns anymore, you feel more at one with the car. It's kinda hard to explain, but anybody with a good racing seat in their car probably knows what I'm talking about.
Most aftermarket adjustable seats (Sparco Torino, Corbeau, etc..) are way too wide for me and a just slide around in them, but my Brix was perfect. I'm so pissed that I sold it. Even though I would have had to cut my door panel to make it fit, I really regret it now. It made the biggest difference in the feel of my car. I'll definately buy another one when I get the money. Really comfortable too.

Before spending the time and money on seats, get a four-point harness first (you will need to get one anyway with the seat). The 4-pt harness will hold you in place much better than the stock belts and can be used with the stock seats.

i dunno but it is starting to get up there on the list. i think it is like
1) which BOV is the loudest/riceist
2) which is the most obnoxiously loud exhaust
3) which seats fit in my car; i don't track my car or anything, I just wanna look like F&F and want people to see Sparco or somesuch in their rear view.
I am not sure that twinturbopete is buying racing seats for this reason, but if i was a betting (which I am) I know where I would put my money.
When I joined the forum a mere 6 months ago I didn't realize why the veterans of the forum were always complaining about people not searching and about threads that appear over and over again, but now I understand. I know I should take the high road an not post anything, but it seems like every other day I see the same kind of threads. Some1 use the F'ing search button for the love of pete.

to a point....if you flip you can kiss your head bye bye, *installs roll cage* The stock belts are made so that if you flip you slide down. A harness will hold you in place as the roof caves crushing you. P.S. Sorry Rynberg if you have a better answer

Unfortunatly, the search button doesn't always like to find what you are looking for. Plus some threads that have the same topics, never have the same results. I've been on the board long enough to know how much of a waste of time some threads can be. But i'm not looking for racing seats for the "Fast and Furious" or to be "m4d t11gHt y0"..
i'm looking for a good seat that i can track, that is lightweight, fits me (6'0 180lbs) and fits my car without any hacking.
If anyone knows the Mazdaspeed seats part #s, since they will have a Mazda part # on them, please let me know.
So i can get them from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development

Cheap FIA-homolugated seats include the Sparco Sprint, Ultra, and the Corbeau Forza. Only the Forza comes with FD-specific brackets. The Forza was too wide for me - but I'm skinny (5'7", 28-29" waist).
A very good track seat that fits is the Recaro SPG, but it's pricey. You can get FD specific rails from Recaro of Japan.

well i'll probably be installing a chromoly cage in the future. Just want to kind of set my sights on a pair of seats so i can save up.
I have a 32-34" waist btw.. so any seats that hold me good will work. I don't like tons of shoulder bolstering either since i have very broad shoulders... they just get in the way..

Avoid Fuego Racing
Does anyone else think the stock seat are very uncomfortable? I hate them. No lumbar support and i feel hunched over like an airplane seat. Plus my body doesn't fit between the side bolsters. And I'm not fat either, I am 6'3 200 lbs.
