It may look really ugly now, but it was designed in the 80's and many fashionable things back then look really ugly to us now. Fashion changes with the times, there's nothing more to it than that.

do you think they had bodywork left to do or thats just the way they made it? im guessing its for race purposes as it would aid in a cold air box setup

 

That front end is a pure race setup (I've seen it before, I just don't remember where), so why put the extra FTP and turn signal there? It'd be easier to do without it and it'd give slightly smoother airflow over the nose. I'd also be willing to bet that the one sided FTP and turn signal are for the engine intake, if you choose to cut them out and use them as such.

I believe its full name is the racing beat california spyder kit, but thats all i know about it.
