R Magic's Blue Widebody Pics

For starts did you know THERE IS NOT A RACE SERIES IN THIS COUNTRY THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO RUN A FD WITH A WIDEBODY KIT? How do I know this? A friend of mine who works at a very reputable shop, that among other things provides team managment services for private GT2 teams, is building up a $100,000+ tube frame FD race car and has detailed knowledge of the various series' requirements. THEREFORE, I doubt you would be putting down any time at all with that kit, at least in a competitive event.
10 year in professional motorsports and I am currently on field staff with the SCCA Speed Channel World Challenge. And I can tell you both you and your friend are wrong. There are a multitude of series that car would be welcome.
It is a race car package, not a cosmetic I want to cruise body kit. There is a terrific difference between the two.
I love it, but then I'm into full-on true racecars. The yellow one IMHO though is something I would choose not to be seen in.

Try NASA Super Unlimited for Starters... And about four or five classes of SCCA regional racing and autox'ing that might work also. More then often it's the chassis and the engine specifics that determine the series and class a car is allowed to compete in.
I spoke to my friend earlier. He agrees with everything you said above. However, he noted that of the 5 scca classes that don't exclude the widebody only 2 permit turbo rx7s (ITE and SPO). The hang up re SPO (for him at least) is not every region has it. He also thought there may be a problem with a vehicle age restriction in ITE. ALMS permits them but it is cost prohibitive. The Speed vision challenge series permits "slightly wider" body work but not 10 inches wider.
i agree but the re amemiya wide body would be the kit to race with...its not as beautiful as the r-magic but it gets the job done nicely.re widebody is more expensable<- as in you wont care as much if it gets damaged. heres my car..all abflug kit with scoot hood and a t78.
I know I'm digging this one up from the graveyard...but just look at this car!!!

Maybe now some of you guys can better understand the purpose behind such kits...granted these cars have almost nothing in common when it comes to performance and build quality, as the RX-7 is (let's come down to it) is an entry level high performance sports car and the GT1 is a jewel of sheer engineering nirvana! But you can certainly appreciate the design put into this kit a bit more when it's side by side to such an incredible machine. If anything, it definately does look much better than a stock FD standing next to it as it gives it much more of a "supercar look" which I think is what many people appreciate about it.
IMHO, it seems that R-Magic is too mild in comparison. I think MORE aero would be even nicer!
Obviously if done correctly it DOES serve a strong purpose.
**Btw...does that hood look familiar on the GT1?? Scoot and RE Amemiya know where to go to get a good design!

Actually those big wings are very funcional, I dunno about the winglets and stuff on the R-Magic, but some of the the large wings like the C-west mega GT are very functional when providing downforce compared to any of the more "clean" wings.
