Question about Stereo Setup

I am setting up a stereo that I bought a few years ago.

Just a few questions. Because I am having four speakers powered by the amp, I need to send wires directly from the speakers to the Amp.

I don't feel like reusing the stock wiring because it seems like the gauge is much smaller than what I was going for (14awg), so the question is is it really hard to pass new wire through the door grommet tube thing-a-ma-bobber? and am I making this harder on myself than I should be?

This is what I had in mind.

In the rear I am building two small boxes to house the speakers which are 6.5's all around. In the front they have a tweeter and crossover. The head unit is a Pioneer with 2 sets of Pre-Outs and the amp is a 540watt 4 Channel Infinity if that is of any consequence.

with a normal 4 ch amp i wouldnt even bother running new lines. i install professionally, built huge systems and what not.

i would only run new lines if the cables in there now are chopped and pieced back together all over the place, or if your going for full sq system.

i would take the extra time & money from the extra wires and put it into stronger amps or fabing the door correctly for sound, or a sub set up.

as for me... i dont like rear speakers. spent the money on more power and better speakers up front.

for your set up i would dump the rears and get a sub. run channels 1/2 for the front, bridge 3/4 to a small sub to start.

blah blah blah. back to your thread. to run new thicker wire through your door is simple. look for open slots and drill in the molex plug. if no spots, drill out the old speaker cables out.

I agree. Passing new lines through the front doors is tough. I would find the wires in the side module to cut and reuse going to the stock location. A few feet of stock wire is no big deal. The wattage you push to 6.5's does not need much. the backs are easy though so running new wires for it just makes sense. This is what I did, but havent ran the setup yet as the car is not functional...lol.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't want subs, I don't want massive bass and an additional 25 lbs in my car hehe.

The original speaker wires were chopped alot as the previous owner decided to install some tweets and they splice the original wires.

I already have to wire and it is non-refundable so I guess I will give myself a headache.

As for the sound of the door I have modified the original sound enclosures with some fiberglass so I think the sound will be well enclosed and the speaker well protected.

To answer your question - no it's not THAT bad.

But unless the stock wiring is really terrible, I would try to make use of it in the essence of saving time.

The stock wiring IS really terrible for an fc. For an fd i wouldn't bother changing that up.

Sheilded cable from the deck to the speakers. Monster rcas

Run your power wires as far as you can get them from your audio cables and upgrade all your car grounds to 0 ga cable and your system should be good enough to be heard clearly blocks away. No headlight dimming, less distortion, every note is hit.

Imo, a JL audio 10w1 stashed in a rear bin would really make the system perfect. A little bass never hurt anyone.
