Question about Spray Painting the interior

So if i use that special paint that is made for painting plastic as a primer, could I then use any other paint to go over it? I want to paint my center piece around my stereo. ....btw, this is my 100th post YEA!!!!

well I heard in the first gen section that a guy used some Krylon Plastic Spray paint, it says it bonds on a "molecular level" to keep from peeling or scratching. The spray paint was siver, it looked very nice and all of his feedback was 10 out of 10. I want to paint blue but im thinking use the Krylon Plastic Spray Paint as a primer and then use a cool blue color. It sounds good, has anyone ever done something similar, or painted anything plastic with good results?

Granted it's a 3rd Gen thread, but you should be able to use the same products:

i own an FC and it was originally maroon on the interior....took out the dash...cleaned, sanded, primed, sanded again, primed again, sanded again, painted umpteen bazillion coats, and that bastard hasn't faded or chipped for a good year now even in the least bit, not even the door sills (heavy use) it works fine as long as you're patient and do things right, good luck to you ^_^

I have already taken mine off. Dash bezel (stereo surround) has been painted, I just have to do the ashtray & shift surround. Looks REALLY good - I did mine in black, since the rest of my interior is black. I used primer made for plastics, and semi-gloss black paint. Also put a clear coat on. We'll have to see how it holds up in the long run, but it looks good at the moment.

I haven't taken pictures yet, but I got it in. Damn, it looks so much sweeter than that nasty *** silver did! It turned out really good, but now I've got to see how it's going to hold up.

Will take some pics soon & show ya.
