Q's about painting the interior??

after i remove carpet and the rest of it, what do you guys sand with?? 400 grit?? i am gonna do the door seal's and all and wondered how you did yours?? did you clear coat it?? i dont want it to peal in a year.

BTW: im going from red to black along wiht the rest of the car.

but i said it wrong like i always do....
painting the floor (over the sound dampning crap) and door seals.....

no clear coat, any high traffic areas or minor scratches will promote it to lose adhesion and flake off, just normal auto paint and shoot.

in fact i hate clearcoating alltogether, it eventually flakes where you can just cut a single or 2 stage paint. only cars that have clearcoat that i have seen last 20+ years or even over 5 for that matter is cars that never see anything other than a garage. granted this is interior here but the door sills are not exempt from humidity and weather and are the most susceptible areas to get nicks in the paint.

so just a good sanding (400 grit) and primer then shoot away???

so by normal auto paint you mean laquer? I'd say urethane paints are more popular, and require a clearcoat. Laquer would be better for interior panels though because it doesn't chip as easily. Just a clarification
