Question putting a spoiler on

i have a red '93 base model with no spoiler. i found a good deal on one that i like (early FD factory spoiler) but i don't know what is involved in putting one on. does it involve reinforcing anything? can it be done by a few guys with some automotive tallent or is this a body shop task? if so, how much might they charge? also, it is black. my car is red. my car only has 35k miles on it so the paint still looks factory fresh. is color matching going to be a problem?
thanks for your time.

you should really let a body shop do it. I am going to say it will probably run about 500 bucks to get it painted and installed. No reinforcement is needed, but exact alignment and painting are what is goign to be the hard part.

buy it painted already.

Get a template from the shop where you buy it from. if you make a small mistake, no one will see it till the spoiler is off anyway.

Wingless--looks good too.

I paid a painter\bodyshop guy 75.00 on the side to install my stock wing.

You can do it yourself. This should help: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/spoiler_install.html

Mark the holes and drill them out. Get a bit set and work your way from smallest to the largest required for the bolts. Deburr the holes and the put a little touch-up paint on the inside of them to prevent rust.

ohhh.....I forgot, you can probably take it macco to get it painted for cheap (probably like 50 bucks), but my bodyshop guy wouldn't do it for that.

i did it myself and it only took two hours...very easy..the website mentioned by "skotx" has a template of the r1 wings positioning...also your paint isnt going to match up if you get it painted so i would spray paint it until you get the car painted...sounds ghetto but i did it to my white one and it looks good enough until i paint my car....if ya need any info pm me...but this is very easy to do
