Purchasing 3rd Gen. RX-7, concerning parts availability

While test driving a FD today, I noticed parts that were broken or missing from the vehicle, which brought me here to ask:

1.) Are interior parts still available from the Mazda dealer for a `93 FD? (Sat. can't all in)

2.) Anyone know of any sites that sell aftermarket interior parts? (Main concern is a cracked doorhandle housing, and something that sits slightly behind the sunroof, domelight maybe?

I'm hesitant dealing with people I don't know and can't see, so yeah I know about the parts for sale on the forums but would rather avoid that if possible. Also would like to have parts that are already cherry and haven't faced any abuse. Tia

1- I believe parts are still available for the FD from the dealer, but they are EXPENSIVE.

2- I know an aftermarket vendor was selling new aluminum doorhandles, which were supposed to be MUCH stronger than factory. Do a search for "doorhandles" in the 3rd gen section and you should come up with some hits.

3- I've been an owner for several years and doing business on the forums for a number of those. Honestly, I think this forum is by far the best place to buy parts. Much cheaper than brand new and if you know what to look for the parts are just as good quality.

PM me if you'd like and I can give you some pointers on how to avoid being scammed when buying used parts. I'd rather keep the tips private so not to give scammers any sort of advantage.

No problem, PM'd you back. Goodluck with the FD if you do decide to purchase it. I've had for a number of years and I'm happier with it than I've ever been.

You should contact Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda http://mazda.malloyautomall.com/. He can check availability and prices for you. He is by far the most reliable person I have dealt with in the auto industry.

Between the US dealer network, the Japanese dealer network, and the aftermarket you shouldn't have a problem finding whatever you need-if you are willing to pay for it :p.

Is this your first FD? If it is you will love these cars. Keep in mind that these cars are going up in value as well. Also, if you attend track days with local car clubs, you can be eligible for a racer discount from Mazda Speed. I just ordered engine studs for the exhaust manifold which cost me $8 each. I called the local dealer here (Hawaii, a little more expensive than the mainland) and they quoted me $30. What a huge difference for the same part.

Ray Crowe is the best place to look for OEM parts. He's cheaper than every other dealer I've talked to and he knows these cars inside and out. Give hm a call and tell him you're from the RX-7 club.
