Properly wigthed shift ****?
What is the proper weight in grams for a shift **** on an convertable 88 RX7. I have the choice between an 180g, and 300g and an 410g. Which **** will give me the most precise feel?

Get the heaviest one you can, it will feel the most precise. if u really want a good feeling when u shift i'd reccomend a shifter. imo the **** wont change the feel of the shifter going into gear, it will just feel different in your hand. Goodluck on whatever u decide

No, the weight of the top of the shifter will creat more inertia, therefore, when you go into gear, it has the weight to make shifting fell, well it's sorta unexplainable. I already have a mazdatrix SS ordered. But for example, the Z31 does really good with about a 300g ****, prevents wear on sincros, and gives a smoother gear engagement.

The arc of the throw changes with an short shifter, still with me? You shorten the Arc, and you loose the rotational mass of the exta shifter and the leverage that you once had. To make up for this you add a heavyer shift **** the regain the momentum you once had. Still with me. If you go to heavy, then it is like resting your hand on the gear shift which wears your sincros. I know the SS wears your sincros, but The less wear the better. Basically, I want the same force on each gear as the factory shifter would have. Anybody still fail to comprehend?

Garoad, you got it! I forgot all the math I learned in trig and algerbra 2. If somebody even knows the formula and stock weight along with the Mazdatrix ss throw arc and oe shifter arc, I can figure this out on my own.
