I really like the Knightsports sleepy kit. Does anyone happen to know how the light output of the standard (not HID) Knightsports kit is in comparison to the stock headlights?

I heard Stock KS - Non HID = Less output than stock due to less reflector in housing.... But never compared in person KS are expensive...

pop-ups only look good when the headlights are down, sleek is the way to go.

I think the only reason why I would choose to get rid of the pop ups is because of the weight.

Really? That sucks. I've heard that the stock system isn't all that great in terms of light output, so if the KS system is even worse, that's a serious black mark.

That is strictly hear-say, but makes sense.... I would ask someone who actually owns one as to if they are brighter than stock...

I also heard that, on an FC with some sort of light kit (Dual Beam) setup like the one on KS's setup. FC owner said that his output has deminished due to the smaller reflector surface area....
And usually one bulb is Low Beam and the other high beam, so you're not only talking square vs round area, but also half the surface is used for the high beam...

Unless you're talking about a significant increase in output (HID or Halogen with Projector) you're looking at less light output.

... and just to add on as someone already mentioned to have HID you need to have a special lens to focus the beam and u cannot have that with the KS kit

What's worse is that HID has been Illegal to own for a while, but just rescently Aug 15'th it went Illegal to Sell...

So now if you sell aftermarket HID you get fined...

So expect some price Hikes...

I just got back from my cousin, in San-Diego... He helped me cut away part of my old headlight assembly, and boy was I nervous, if this wasn't to my likeing I'd have some serios welding to do to get the stock assembly back, and even then I'd probhably never be straight...

Anyhow... FORRGT THAT !!! WOW !!!

Rotary Extreme's HID Kit RULES The WROLD, I should have done it on my old FD..... Wow what visibility clarity, and I thought it was just hype to say that it keeps you alerter... driving home at 11:30 tonight usually is a fight with sleep, not really tonight... maybe I was excited.. or whatever... but I love 'em....

I'd say at least 2X as bright (Distance Brightness Spread) as stock... and some of the best money I've spent on my car BANG for BUCK wise in a LONG time... :-)

I'll Post Pictures tomorrow....

I think it depends on the modification level of the car.

A stock rx7 would look ugly with just a light kit.

But a fully kitted/rim car wouldn't look too bad IMO. I think it just depends on the particular car.

These are without the Lexan Lens Cover, as I have yet to align the headlights properly, and will do so next weekend... future pictures to come...

I'm not a fan of those lights but not bad.

I have a question about your front turn signals. In the first picture they look tinted a lot. That's what mine used to look like when i first painted them, now after like a month they look like the ones in your second picture. So did yours fade away too or is that just from the sunlight?

Well, a bit of sunlight... and a bit of camera manipulation...

I own a polarizer, for my camera, so I can dial in and out reflections, and you're looking at that sort of manipulation before the picture hit the Image Plane...

And from what I can tell they (Previous Owner) used the Spray on Tint, and sprayed a layer on the front, from what I can tell it hasn't faded ...

Also the pictures were taken a week appart... so I doubt it went that fast, or I'd notice...

I'd say sleek all the way.. but pop up has a more familiar... classic look. Sleek likes with no body dress looks odd... I'd say throw on a body kit if you want to get sleek lights.. otherwise stick to pop-up IMO

I agree with whoever said it depends on how the exterior of the car is modded. Generally though, during the day, pop-ups look better, and the function itself is pretty cool. However, sleek lights have a nicer flow to them, and look more modern. They are both great, but IMO, the knightsports pop-ups are awesome, while the RE lights are great for sleek style. I'd have to judge a car as a whole though, not just the lights.

Sleek lights all the way. Pop up lights are so out of date, no car manufacturer uses them anymore. Not to mention they are more prone to break down and weigh more
