There's a product made by Mother's called back to black - it's designed for dark plastic trim, and it removes oxidations and polishes over light scratches. you should try that before getting the paint shop involved - 5$ versus 100$.

If it is just faded, I would sand it with 2000 grit sandpaper and then polish with automotive style polishes. You need to start with a cutting polish and work your way up to a hand glaze. This will work the best, I am sure that those other polishes will work, but there are essentially the same thing as the polish for your paint. The body shop should know how to take care of it.

the mothers product worked really well for my s4 tails. they were scuffed from the paintshop when they sanded the body down (i guess they didn't mask it off when they sanded it) and when i used back to black, they turned out almost brand new looking. i'm not sure it will work for the faded purple lights, but like i said, it's worth a try.
