to polish or not to polish....

Hello,
I have just finished polishing the upper portion of the stock intake pipe that faces the firewall and snakes between the UIM & ABS unit (for the fd). It took me a total of about 2 1/2 hrs to complete. I have posted a couple pics below. Since I have the stock twins, only the very tip of this pipe is seen w/o removing white a few parts. My question is...
Should I polish the rest of it, or just leave it the way I have it, with only the portion that can be seen polished?
Thanks for any opinions, and possible discussions

don't waste the time if it's not going to be seen... not really any point, unless you're going to be taking the pipe off and going "check this out, it's all polished"

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), I will not be going single. My FD is a daily driver, and I waddle through more traffic than I would like. I need low end more than anything else, so I will be keeping true to the twins
I have the 99-specs right now, and I love them. In due time, I will upgrade to the bnr's or m2's, but this is not the time for that.

Xtacy7: why did you polish the whole thing? Did you do it yourself? Can you see anything beyond the top? Does it bother you not having the whole thing done?

Thanks for the thoughts, guys For SURE when I don't need the spare anymore, I'll polish the whole thing before selling

Polish it. The grime will be like a heat blanket. Not a big deal, but every little bit cooler; your rotary will be appreciative.

Sweet! I have a coolant leak somewhere
Since the car's out of commision, I'll be pulling/polishing the y-pipe, so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to go ahead and finish the job.
...not that I really want to work on the car

The reflection in the nicely polished 3rd of the pipe looks like a naked girl, or an elbow.

Polish everything!
You can't really tell by the 1st pic, but everything is polished on my car...front cover, fuel rail, LIM, water pump...even the rotor housings. I used to get "wow" when I popped the hood...now I get "HOLY ****!"

Here's a crappy pic from the install that shows the extent of the bling.

Nice job
In the 2nd pic, i dunno if it's just me or the angle, but did you have the center-facing side of the LIM polished? Did you also have the underside of the UIM done? It's areas like that which I was undecided on...... I won't be able to see how tired I am in the reflection

Well, it looks like I'll be polishin' the whole dang thang
Peer pressure is powerful.....

*pics to come in a week or 2

Didn't do the inside of the LIM or the underside of the UIM. Kind of a waste of time once you get it all together...especially if you still have the twins (and the rat's nest).

I have a lot of small polished pieces in that area that stand out more because of that...like my fuel rail.

Now did you polish it or did you get them polished?

I did the UIM and my old SARD intakes by hand, had everything else done through Marvelspeed. I might have done the other parts as well if my car was anywhere near me when the work was being done on it... but I doubt it considering I paid $350 to get everything polished. Considering that I'm in Altus Oklahoma, and the car was done in Dallas...it made it rather difficult.

Honestly though, after spending the amount of time I did on the UIM and SARDS (and the blisters that ensued)...I was glad to pay for the work.

Either way...what's your point

I bought a 3/4 hp buffer, and I use a 10" wheel. As for the compound, everyone has their own preferences

....and that's all I have to say about that
