Chuck hasn't stated that he is even making a HID version. The non-HID kit is going to be around $750. I would guess a HID kit would be around $1200.

My headlights retract to stock position when they are off. Unlike those "JDM" cheesy kits that the kids are running around with these days.


The headlight motor needs to be altered in someway. It has nothing to do with the electrical components.

Thats just the same as pulling the switch. I thought that was to make a thing to control how high the headlights go.

Wael told me how he modified it which I relayed to whomever that wanted the information, including Fumanchu.

Wael sold his RX7 and I believe he is no longer interested in writing up the instructions on how he modified the lights.

I will, however, speak to him and let him know about this thread.

They look great on my favorite color rx-7, I love white rx-7's. I made these with the help of Tristate rx-7 member, John Demetre's help. Together we managed to figure out the modification to the lights.

I honestly don't know how to make this into a kit because it will end up expensive as new retracting assemblies will be needed, so basically I have to source assemblies, modify them, mount the HID projectors and high beam, it quickly adds up...So there is the possibility of using used assemblies, but then how do you know the real condition of the used retracting assembly. Another possibility is someone will send their assembly in, but what if something goes wrong and the motor gets fried, or one of the teeth break...who is responsible, what if I recieve it and its already broken, it becomes a "no you sent it broken"...and the other end is making the point that "they worked fine when I pulled them out"...

It can get messy as you can tell. I made the offer to help anyone make them themselves if they come by my shop in Connecticut, which is the safest thing. But perhaps there might be a better alternative, I am not sure...I am talking to the co-developer, but I honestly think its too risky for us to try and market it, expect the entire replacement setup to cost about $1500 for the kit, that also doesn't take into account making a mold for a bezel. Perhaps the price can be reduced if there is an exchange program, but as I mentioned above, the exchange carries risks. But then it takes so long to make it, what do I make on them? The $1500 price is just cost! Its just expensive, it's one of those things where it would be simpler for everyone to make it themself...I am still talking to John.

I have been meaning to ask you this but where did you find the high beams?? I have looked everywhere at PIAA foglights but have not been able to locate the exact ones.


Also, I simplified the wiring you had for the high beams so when they are activated, the low beams stay on as well. No need to run those relays you had going. PM me and I will let you know how I did it. Trust me, it's WAY easier.


Also, did you find a fix for the vibrating headlight cradle. It seems I get about a centimeter of play when the headlights are up and on a bumpy road, the cutoff on the HID's bounces a lot. I had the same bouncy cradle on my FD cradles but with the crappy headlights you can't tell. I ran out of ideas on how to fix this...maybe you have some insight.

That's not wire of the announcer, it is "speaker wire" That is what he is using.

Translating french is easy if you have half a brain, or if you have 1/4 of a brain and learned another romance language (Spanish/Italian)
