Pics of my OEM FD car cover.

I just bought this a few weeks ago on eBay. It is a mint OEM car cover. It was still in the plastic bag when I got it. It included a carrying bag as well that says Mazda Genuine Accessories.

What do you guys think?

It is a clear piece of plastic. I really don't know why it is there. I think it is so that the police can see that you have valid tags if you leave the car parked on the street, that is the only reason I can think of though. It will remain in my garage with the cover though so I don't have to worry about that.

I checked your info on the forum and it says you are thinking about buying an RX-7? When you eventually get one maybe you'll understand.

Searching his profile?....
You don't need a car cover in the garage.
Its a nice car cover and all but come on.
If you like it thats cool, but he still makes a good point.

Unless that was completely a joke, sorry I disagree. If your garage sees any traffic aside from getting in/out of the RX-7, and the RX-7 is a second car, then a cover is worth considering. For a household with kids, multiply by a factor of 100.

Not a joke...I have a TII FC now, but its garaged, and I even if I had an FD, I wouldn't cover it up unless I drive it like once a year and showed it or something, but why buy it if your not gonna drive it? I thought those things were just to cover your car from the elements....rain/bird **** and such....but whats the point in a garage? Not like theres enough stuff shifting around to do anything to the car that couldn't be hosed off in a matter of seconds....i dont see why that was so funny....

I guess it just comes down to how **** you are about your car. Me personally, I wash my car about twice a week depending on how much I drive it. It isn't my daily driver so it sits in the garage for weeks at a time during the winter months. During this time people walk very close carrying trash bags, sleds, and anything else. The main reason I got it is to prevent minor scratches and keep it from getting covered in dust. Plus I think it was a rare find and a very nice thing to have to go with my car.

It was witty though, accidental or not. I didn't mean to dig back at you.

My garage has all kinds of tools and stuff around the outside, and when I get the car repainted I may buy a cover. It's just so easy for something to bump or scratch the car if the garage is small, so I'm thinking of getting a cover. Just the idea of walking around my car with a snow shovel in winter makes me cringe, and having kids would be horrifying. Plus the horror stories about a solvent can exploding or shelving falling over, it's cheap insurance.

Now you didnt mention kids. I have to agree with you on that one. Last year my son threw a rock into my drivers side door the week after I got the car back from the body shop. Gotta love kids

How heavy are those things? Dont look like they would prevent a dent anyways, maybe a scratch, but if a solid thing hit it, looks like it would still dent.

Good fit, I have a generic one that's made of Evolution 4 fabric. Mine fits great too.

I got mine bc I have to park it outside. I think if you're garage is organized, cover isn't needed. But if you don't drive it much, the cover isn't that much of a hassle. Heck, when I do drive it everyday, I take the cover on and off everyday. It's a one min job.

More reasons I've thought of just tonight as I was working in the garage: extension cords - these can leave marks on a nice finish if they rub up against it. Compressed air hose - can leave marks, especially because it is thicker. I sometimes have an abnormal amount of dust in my garage from prepping things to paint (like other cars) of course I pull the FD out before I start, but that doesn't keep the dust from settling on other things and waiting to get on the FD when I pull it back in. Not to mention it just looks badass covered up. Like a secret weapon
