I'll apologize in advance for the crappy quality of the pictures but I have a crap camera.

Getting to the point, here are the pictures of the CF interior that Sonix7 did for me. Sonix7 did an awesome job on my interior parts and he was a pleasure to do business with. I'm still finishing clean up on the interior after having the car apart for 6 months.

My goal with this mod was to clean up the interior so that it felt a little more high class than the crappy peeling cheap looking plastic that Mazda put in there. The CF is in plain weave and not 2 twill. Was the modification successful? In my opinion, yes since what was there before was a badly peeling interior that no amount of polishing and cleaning would revive. Ferrari and Lambos have CF interiors, and now this is as close to that that my interior can get for a really good deal.

It is an overlay over the plastic parts.

 

I had ordered a Momo Driver wheel to replace the stocker, but it seems that this is one hard wheel to find. I ordered from Prostreetonline.com since they had it for cheap, but it was backordered until who knows when. That's my next project though, along with replacing the circa 1993 Kenwood deck.

The shift boot and brake boot are much darker than how they appear, the flash just made them look gray.

That is an excellent job!I have been doing fiberglass for over 10 years and dabled in some carbon fiber parts for my, now sold, 87 TII.I know how difficult it is to do.

 

That really does look good. Congrats. Yeah I have checked out his website and it looks like he does very good quality work. Your car looks like another example of good work. I will be doing business with him after a few other more important mods.

As for the colored CF, I believe they dye the fabric prior to weaving I would assume. Sonix7 could probably tell you more though. Speaking of Sonix7, I haven't seen that guy online in a while.

 

na I am here, just real busy and never on for that long. Thanx for the nice words from everyone. I have learned alot this first year of fabrication. I hope to take it to the next level in this upcoming year. I just recently finished up a 93 viper complete interior, talk about difficult custom work!! Anyone that needs my help can always PM me to answer Bajaman- its colored kevlar fabric most of the time but they are coming with a plethra of different choices in e-class FG and what not. I can't tell if that pic is a special kevlar hybrid fabric or not.

Porsches are nice. Gemballa Porsches are even better but it would take a serious fruit to make your interior look like that.

 

i was thinking about trying to do a carbon overlay myself. how do you do it sonix7? im not really familiar with the terminology, but there's a wet lay and dry lay right? ones dry is prepreg and wet is the messy slop the resin down kind. and do you vacuum bag the part? do you bake it? sorry for all the questions, but im the kid who always asked the teacher a million stupid questions because i wanted to learn. thanks in advance

it's a wet lay.. no prepeg as it's hard to get to mold to the parts.. i'm sure he bags the parts.. at least the ones that are fairly curved..

only the gauge cluster and the instrument panel needs to be bagged..

 

i think it looks great........i've been to the site as well and think the prices are within range and the quality of work looks good. i'll be ordering some for myself, sometime in the far future i'm sure.
