It will cost more do repaint it to another color and still look good. Also, your resell value may drop if you have different color under hood, truck etc.

I would suggest a real nice red paint (maybe not VR) with lots of clear coat. I have a white FD and it does hide imperfections a lot but it's a little bland. I don't complain bc white FDs are rare.

Airbrush-

I really do take your suggestions to mind because of the fact u are an experienced "sprayer". If i do go with something like u said, i want to be able to see the blue. Not just say " yeah it has a blue pearl" hehe. I like red because it has the nice shine to it and its not too flashy. What are some good bright reds out there?

I agree with djantlive, if you aren't going to dismantle the entire car to paint every part, I would paint it either VR again or just another shade of red..

That's going to look ghetto if you paint it white or something, open your hood for somebody, and it's red...

Plus, if you ever need to sell the car, that wouldn't be a good selling point...

What's a complete exterior repaint run?

I've got a new hood and bumper I want to put on, and get the whole car redone at the same time to fix all the little chips and what not, but I've heard prices all over the place.

Yea, it's depends on the shop, the paint, etc...

I've seen $1500 all the way to $5000. I've been quoted around $2700 for a repaint of VR.

maybe keep it red but ad a russet red pearl? havent tryed it yet, but dont see why it wouldn't look good, maybe even with a fire oarnge pearl. If the blue pearl is in the clear, it will be very obvious, especially on a white car. It shows up best on the curves, and its great to pick up chicks on a night of cruisin, they have no idea what ya did to make it "glow blue under the streetlights"(direct quote from some blonde, I have a friend with a white and blue peal miata that gets second looks all the time). But witout a doubt, use pearl in the clear, no one thinks of it, and you'll be the only one around with it!

repainting your color a different color will suck. when you try to sell it and the color codes don't much you will be trying to sell a car like it has been wrecked (there are some exceptions like show cars, chameleon paints-if you paint it chameleon i will kill you- or ground effects - yuck).

Paint a base of vintage red and spray a gold pearl over it, then about 6 coats of clear. Or, if you want to be really slick, paint it vr and then spray a red pearl n it. Your car will be sweet as hell. We just did it ot a yellow c5 vette and it is the most beautiful color i've ever seen...

Go over to the Supraforums and do a search for the screename Flavio. He has the most badass red you have ever seen. I normally dont like red but that color is incredible.

Alex Nyugen has a VR w/Gold pearl. Very nice. I'll proably add a couple coats of gold pearl, and a few clear coats...
