I like MB, its my 2nd favorite FD color after white. I feel the same as you do tho, I dont like when it looks green. Someday i would like to paint mine BMW Lemans Blue, or the blue from the terminator cobra's. I know paint shops can alter colors quite a bit, i wonder if there is any way they can mix MB to not show green at times.

Thanks Montego. I was going to PM you since I read that you had painted yours but you beat me to it. From MB to yellow is quite drastic. So the only way to tell is in the trunk area under the mat and underneath the car or did they do those areas too?

@DriftDreamz - your suggestion of mixing more blue into MB came up and my painter did not recommend that with MB....citing MB is so unique that it wouldn't turn out well at all. It's such a Jekyll and Hyde color isn't it? From your 2nd fave FD color to disliking it....all in a matter of a few feet of walking around the car in different lighting conditions. Love the blue.....hate the green.

Yeah drastic change for sure, the MB is a rather tame 'under the radar' color and yellow is the complete opposite. It's either a love it or hate it as it really brings out wild reactions out of people. Those that don't like it just shake their heads or just ask me why yellow? But those that like its rather obvious as I've been filmed, chased down just to give a gone ape **** thumbs up, I've walked up to the car just to have some dude wanting to shake my hand, and I've even seen people taking pictures of themselves posing with my car. But honestly I painted it for myself as I have always been a fan of yellow sportscars and I had no idea about the level of attention that it was going to get.

Actually the only way to tell that it was montego is if the headliner and the cabin carpet were to be removed. I had the body shop gut the trunk, and removed all windows, door panels, just about everything short of gutting the inside cabin.

Not to add another thing to think about... but I've always love Innocent Blue Mica... the RX-7 blue they introduced in 1999.

MB to Le Mans Blue Metallic complete!

After spending all of winter in the shop....here it is in all its glory. The shop did a masterful job! They removed all the panels, plastics and glass to paint it, then put it back together. It really is difficult to tell it's been painted unless you know where to look. The engine bay was left in MB when I first got it back (and it didn't look TOO bad at all) but I brought it back for them to do the windshield wiper area since that green was showing through......and they actually went ahead and sprayed around the engine satin black.

The car was door ding central too - all gone with PDR. They removed the antenna, rear wiper, and washer fluid sprayer. I'm really digging it. Now on to the paranoia of something happening to it, wheels, pillowballs and bushings, clutch, etc etc.........

BEFORE:

Engine shot was a while back....before I actually cleaned the dust off. It's a good shot of the green too. And the LF fender with a little trophy from the buck that decided to ram it.

looks really nice. Is that BMW's lemans blue? It looks so much different on a small car like an FD.

That shade of blue definitely modernizes your FD too, even though you chose to stay with the stock front-bumper.

Looks great, man.

Yeah, I'm wondering a bit why I didn't consider changing out the front bumper a little more seriously too.....since the '99 spec is "only" around $625 and it would have been the perfect time. But then you got to add shipping, the lights and maybe this rebar thingy...it would have added up. I'm not a huge fan of that license plate holder though.

Baby steps. I need to improve the ride quality with this clunking and all.....and now my clutch is sticking. It never ends......

Purple! Make it some sort of dark pearlescent purple. That's what I'm thinking of doing eventually.

Did you take out all of the accessories for them to paint the satin black around in the engine bay?

Agreed! I was actually posting to stick with MB when I realized you'd already had it done - looks great! (nice that they sprayed around the engine for ya)

Ripley - except for the strut bar, the shop did not remove any accessories to paint the bay...they just taped and sprayed around them. There are areas of over-spray but because it's black, it's hardly noticeable. It would have been better if they had done it before putting the nose, fenders & hood back on though...but it still looks great.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm still very happy with my decision as well....no buyer's remorse here!
