Painting CF hood. Opinions?
OK, I have this vented FC hood that I love but the clear is cracked on it. I'm also thinking about a bit different look for the overall appearance so I'm wanting to paint the hood. Here is my question: Which of these looks better? I know it isn't a perfect match in the pics but it works for the situation.
Current look:
Fully painted:
Some CF showing:
The car will be staying red but will be brighter. Probably like the Mazda 3 or perhaps Guards Red from Porsche.
Thanks for the input!
Reese

Tai-Lun: I was leaning that way but by the same token, I intend to paint the mouldings body color as well. Think it would throw it off then?
R-R-Rx7: Hmm... I didn't see that as an option. The headlights stay unless you would like to buy me a different kit? Additionally, BOTH of my options include painting the hood. Not much help without clarifying. Thanks, though.

3rd option. Keeps a little contrast but doesn't have that full on ricey "look at my CF hood" action.
If you're painting the moulding IMO it would stick out a little more then with the mouldings black, but you could even tone it down some more. Do just a 1/8" tape line around the edges of the louvers or something along those lines......

Classic,
Are you suggesting leaving ONLY 1/8" of CF showing? That's the way I'm reading what you said, anyway. Masin told me about your work (since I couldn't make the Gap this year). Want to come down and paint it right for me?

Yea my thought was as a 4th option, to basically do similar to your third option except instead of leaving the entire louver CF, simply mask a 1/8" line around the edge of the louver and leave that CF. That way there wouldn't be as much of a black/red mix - but still a little flash when you look right at it close

Pure, VERY nice! What color is that? That's similar to one of my choices of color.
I'm still a few months away from doing this but I'm really leaning towards #3 as well, and probably painting the trim. I've pretty much always liked the cleaner look of S5 paintjobs.
As for a body kit, I have TII skirts, S5 front bumper with Shine lower 1/2, Euro side marker eliminators and a Rotary Extreme diffuser. I think that'll about cover that.

Paint the hood, change the headlights.
Go with a solid color, two tone is great for wild and crazy looking cars like pures, but for non show cars i prefer the clean look.. I actually prefer the clean look period. A new vented hood might be nice, i have one that i got by luck ( Only 2 made) and it has venting and some black mesh in a slot in the front. Ill get a pick up soon. But it gives you the solid color without painting part of it.
