Paint Opinions, Need Help Please!

So i have a '93 FD and a car backed into my driver door. I got a new door skin and going to get the entire car painted starting next week. My problem is: I have an ok bodykit on with a wing and a carbon fiber hood, and im not sure if i want to keep it ''tuner" looking, or put it back to stock looking. I would like to take a vote to hear everyone's opinion (even if u dont have a FD) and which style u think would sell better/quicker. (I plan on selling it to get a mint rolling chasis and build it the way i want with a tri rotor.) I was possibly thinking about just keeping the front bumper (a little lower than the body), taking off the side skirts and putting a J-Spec wing on. Not trying to spend a fortune bc not sure what im doing with it afterwards yet, but all ideas are welcome....

Stock or '99 spec should sell better. Body kits are really hit or miss. Even the guys that like them are very particular on which ones. I am kind of a rice boy at heart, but I am very particular on what I find to be 'exceptable' ricing.

Look at it this way. People who want to add a kit or wing, won't mind buying if it is stock or close to it. But some people who want a stock looking car wont buy it because it has a body kit/wing.

Also, I don't know if I would do a color change. Even if you are going to paint the entire car, totally changing colors adds a lot of expense. Just the engine bay will add a pretty penny to your tab.

Where are you getting the car painted? If you need a place let me know. My car is at an awesome shop. They take long but they do the job right.

I would either keep the car stock or 99 spec. Stay away from the tuner look when selling a car. What has already been said is right on so far.

As far as if you should paint it...
If your looking to flip I would say no. Thats an awful awful idea. Especially if your going to get a good paint job on it. If a buyer was looking to paint a car, I think he would rather do it himself.

I agree with everyone about keeping the car stock or 99 spec. You're much more likely to sell it that way so that the next owner can turn it into how he wants it to look, which then you could turn around and sell the bodykit for some extra cash or keep it for your next one.

my camera is being stupid and not letting me upload my pics. but the driver's door definitely needs to be changed. if i just put on a black panel i think the next buyer of the car's gonna shy away from it as much as a bodykit no? i do love the Jspec-yet also so much money thats why im just gonna get the wing

If your gonna sell the car, no amount of modding is going to increase its value compared to the money you put in (maybe the LSx mod is the only one). You have to get that straight. So the name of the game is spend just enough money to get someone to bite so sure if you want to color match that door to what you have now, do it. If I were you, I would leave that for the buyer to do and just decrease the price of the car to match the cost of color matching or half the cost of color matching.

You also isolate your potential buyers by slapping on a bodykit.
-Stock
Ppl interested:
ppl looking for stock
ppl looking a body kit themselves
-Bodykit

ppl looking your EXACT body kit

Yeah and if that pic in your avatar and the other pic in your profile is your car, no one is going to be looking for a car wearing that Veilside kit unless you find a time traveler from 1998.
