To paint my lip or not to paint, that is the question...
I'm putting an R1 lip on my 93, trying to decide to either leave it black or paint it VR to match the bumper skin.
(which is also getting new VR paint)
My body shop guy says no problemo with getting the paint to adhere really well, but he says the first time I touch a parking curb with it I'll be pissed. It LOOKS like it's high enough to clear one.
Any one with experience on this or have any pics of a painted R1 lip? Thanks!

Ron,
I'm not sure what kind of roads and such you have in your area. I have the Racing Beat Chin Spoiler on my car (was there when I bought it), and it's all beat to hell. Unfortunately, with a spoiler like it, it wouldn't look right black on a VR. However, the 99' Spec lip doesn't look bad black, and you can avoid the inevitable chipping.
Just food for thought.
Someone on here did what ROTARYFDTT said and used a textured rubbery kind of paint (came out like the gravel guard on the bottom sides of the car). Helps with the rocks hitting it and looked real nice. That's what I would do if I were in that situation.

I left mine black to match the side plastic by the rear tires and the rear diffuser, but then again I have a MB so it's darker than your car.
Personally, I saw a few FD's at the last 7stock with painted lips, and it didn't look right to me.

The pictures of the painted lip shown in this thread look pretty good. In "real life" I have seen a number of painted R1 lips, and they all looked hideous. Personally, I like the idea of refinishing it with black rubbery stuff. I may have to do that.
As for curbs...some they clear, and some they don't.
