New stock Bose cd unit?

Any idea if dealers still sell stock '93 Bose cd units? I'm happy with mine, just a worn out laser.

How about $400.00, dealer price.
Get aftermarket one. change the head unit completely, easy job not complicated.

I know I am one of the few, but except for the cd player skipping, I love the stock system. I can hear my center channel one very clearly and like the stock look. Wish I could just get a new laser put in.

I found the stock skipped alot and the quality of an after market units is much better IMO. Yeah some of the lights can be a bit much but their are some nice ones that are not to bad.

There's more of us than you think. Bose is da bomb!!! Seriously though, anyone that doesn't like the sound quality, and perfection of the stock Bose Acoustic Wave system, doesn't like to hear their music well.

As for skipping, you probably don't need to replace the laser. All you gotta do is go to Wallie World or elsewhere and get a CD Laser Lens cleaner disc. This CD has these little tiny brushes on the surface. Just put the disc in, track 1 was instructions (at least the one I got). said to skip to track 4 (because the brushes were in the middle) and let it play.

This thing actually worked. Before, it would reject half of my burned CD's. Sound was really scratchy when it was cold first thing in the morning, and yeah, it skipped a bunch. Thus far, it hasn't rejected a CD or skipped yet (except on a bump). Even sounded crystal clear in the morning.

The lens cleaning disc worked on the PS2 also!!!

That's why I Love my Blaupunkt

It's simple, functional, looks as if it is stock, and the lighting can even be changed to red to match the rest of the interior

White 94Rx: Could you tell me the brand cleaner you got? If yours worked, I want the exact same one. My unit does the exact same thing yours did. BTW, got a neat trick to make the center channel a bit more clean and clear. Gotta run to work, but will pm ya if you're interested.

Check these guys:

They have repaired a lot of FD BOSE units. Very reputable.

Stereo Bob will replace the laser and the cd deck/table in the stock Bose unit. Bob has a lot of info and is very helpful. Please tell him that you read about his company on the forum. I have been trying to get him more involved in the RX7 Community for a while now.

I have tried the lense cleaner and it did not work for me. Older cd players dont seem to like some burned cds due to the reflection from the burned cd's surface. Try different brands of cd-r and the problem might go away. I have had a great improvement on skipping by switching to a memorex with a gold cover and by slowing down my burn rate. The memorex black wont work at all in my factory unit.

good luck

I'm one of their satisfied customers. Not inexpensive to repair, but they go through the unit and do it right - they know exactly what to look for.
