maaco uses HORRIBLE clearcoat, paint, and most of the time workers. thats why they can charge the prices they do. THIS IS JUST A GENERALIZATION OF COURSE...
once they meet a certain quota for the day, they can start paintin cars for $600-$700
paint will fade in about a year...and even tho its under warranty, they can get u with "oh u didnt take care of it or something"

just my $.02

which brands clearcoat + paint do they use?
how much experience do their workers have?
whats the quota they must meet for the day?
who makes this quota?
how many cases of "violated warranties" can you recall first hand?

There's two different types of maaco paint jobs..

A.) The $200.00 advertised special. Basically means for $200.00 you get a $200.00 paint job, crappy paint, crappy clearcoat, non-removal of emblems, lots of overspray because they're in a hurry to get it done, etc.. When you go in to get the special they'll tell you that they have different options to upgrade that paint package until eventually you have the "ok" package below but for about the price you'd pay a normal shop to do the car.

B.) The semi good paint, that IMO is good enough for a daily driver but nothing show quality comes out of maaco I don't think. They painted my mom's car, full color change including jambs, etc for $1200.00. Slight overspray on the muffler, but no where else. Not a bad job to be honest, and it's my mom's car so it doesn't need to be perfect.

Just my experiance with them. But IMO if it's a car that you value don't send your car there to get it done, get it done by someone who "cares" a little more about the job..

Uh-Oh.... you got Maaco.

Do it my way, spray your own jams/under hood/ trunk in your driveway, in the wind. Then when you try to do the outside of the car, your crappy little compressor can't keep up and moisture fisheyes everywhere. Then you sand the outside off and have some guy do it for a barter or trade that you wish you did'nt do. Then after one month get rear ended at Taco Bell by a COP CAR, that pushes you into the car in front of you which cracks your custom body kit and lights, FRONT AND REAR! Then get paid $$$ for damages, buy a new motor with the money and spot paint your own repairs.....where else??.....in your driveway with the neighbors looking on in amazement....... or is it sometimes disgust. No problem at all.
