OK, I need help RE: seats
I have a major decision coming up that I don't want to screw up on. I have a 1994 RX7, and I am looking at replacing my seats because the ones I have now are dirty, torn, and stained from the previous owner. I have a limited budget, and can't go over $1500 for the entire set (seats, harnesses, brackets, harness bar). Here is what I am looking at now:
- 2 x Corbeau CR1 seats (black); customized with 1" cut out of bottom seat foam to lower
- 2 x Schroth Rallye 4 harnesses
- 2 x Mazdaspeed Harness pads (2pr.)
- 2 x Corbeau FD specific brackets
- 1 x M2 harness bar
Any comments? Suggestions? I want to be able to use a 4 point harness no matter what, so the harnesses and harness bar need to be there. I don't think I would be able to use the 4-point harness with the stock seats (if anyone has, please post a pic), otherwise I'd just get those recovered.
Right now, my interior is Black and Tan. I am trying to change it to Black and silver, so that is why I want black seats. Any other color wouldn't work right for my application. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks,
Tyler

I guess I was wrong.
It just seemed to me that the hole in the stock seats was too small, and that if you put the shoulder straps in there they would be too close together and rub on your neck. That's why I liked the separated strap holes. Thanks for the pics, though
I guess I really don't know for sure. When I emailed Spencer Bond at Corbeau about the riding height of the CR1 in a 1994 RX7 he told me that they would ride a little higher, but they could cut up to 1" out of the foam bottom part of the seat to accomodate this. I was just going by what he said. I guess, since no one really has the CR1 seat installed in an FD, I would be going in blind with this, and I am guessin it would be better to be safe than sorry. I can't cut the seat myself, and I don't think 1" lower would really hurt me if standard (with that extra 1") was OK to begin with. However, if that 1" makes it perfect, being 1" taller (standard CR1) might make driving annoying. Am I wrong?

How do you know you'll need to cut foam out of the seats?

If they are going to cut the foam for free, why not. If they are going to charge you for it, then that's another thing. You should also ask about them modifying the seats and returns. They may not take them back after modifying them (if something is wrong or you don't like them).
Check your current height when you get your car back. Then decide if you think it would be necessary.
