Odula Mirrors

Hi guys,

Long time no see, I dont come hre anymore because I wrecked my FD a while back. But I just wanted to run something through you guys. We were having a discussion on a Honda site about APR's GT-3 Formula style side mirrors which are similar in design to the Odula mirrors.

I remember that theft was an issue with these mirrors, because the mounting locations are pretty exposed and anybody could remove the mirror. Using a different type screw (ie allen head) would just force a thief to find the right tool to get it off.

But how hard do you guys think it would be to convince Odula and APR to change the mount design? I was thinking that they could make the 2 mounting holes hex shaped, and you could use 2 hex bolts with hex heads the same size as the hex holes in the mount. The hex bolt goes in the outside through the same sized hex shape hole which will hold the bolt in place and sits so that it is flush. Then the mount is kept in place from the inside of the door panel, where a nut is placed on the bolt and tightened down. With this design you cannot undo it from the outside because you cannot get a wrench or anything on there.

So what do you guys think?

My buddy is selling these, so I can ask him if you have to get to the back of the door or not to remove them.

I see what your saying, in Japan we have about 4 companies that originally sell their design on these mirrors and they are all about the same, probably no chance on changing the design since the demand on them is kind of low..

Have you ever taken your door apart? Do you KNOW how tough it is to get to those holes from inside the door? I put on some APR mirrors recently and I took apart the door thinking they woudl be secured from behind, but they are not. And it's a good thing since getting to the bolt holes from behind is damn near impossible.
