Not happy with mounting position of Recaro Pole Postions in FC

Well, this is totally unacceptable. I bought seat mounts from a company called Wedge. The workmanship is just ok. Then I got Recaro sliders to go with my Recaro Pole Position seats. I am using Recaro aluminum side mounts.

The seats sit way to high. I mean just stupid high.....I don't know if I am just going to have to go without the sliders. I am having to use the top hole in the side mounts. To use the second hole will require grinding away at the top of the mount. The hole for the harness to your side is in the way. I will end up doing that.

There has to be a better way to make all of this work. I don't care if I have to start all over. So how do I make my new Recaro pole positions sit low and slide in a 1989 RX7?

After calling around I don't think there is anyway to make these seats sit lower and slide. I guess I am going to have to go without sliders....what a drag!

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Thumbs up

check memoryfab and bride for their low postion seat rails. I think they both fit recaro seats and I think they let them sit as low as you can.

Thank you, the Memoryfab looks like they will work. I wonder if anyone knows if the position is as low as stock.

I spoke to Bride and they said that with the Pole Position seat I will need the RO type slider bracket. Does anyone have any experience with the ROs? He is not exactly sure how low they will sit.

MemoryFab told me the super low position rail will not work on the Pole Position because of the width of the seat. Although their website says it will, he says not... They do have a regular mount that is only about .5-1.0" lower than the Recaro side mounts, which is not enough for me. Still looks like the only way to get really low is to bolt them to the floor basically.

No, you won't. You'll be better off than with generic sliders and Wedge brackets, which are pretty crappy IMO (unless you don't want to slide and just bolt the seat straight to side mounts on them). And you'll be lower than stock, primarily because the bottom of the seat is thinner the stock one, although you might have to drill new holes in the seat and use helicoils, if the seat's holes aren't in the exactly right position.

If you're going to use the Memoryfab ones (which seem overpriced since in Japan Bride rails are $130), get the dual locking ones.

BTW, RO rails are for bottom mount reclining seats. The FG rails should work for almost any fixed side-mount bucket (except for super wide sizes).

Last time I checked Bride rails in the USA not Japan, cost about $180? Where can you get it for $130 in the states?

RO Rails with Side brackets will make you sit as high as the rails you are using. FG Rails will not fit your Pole Positions. They aren't meant to go past 419mm wide. If you need to go as low as possible try modifying the side brackets to mount to your stock rails or to the floor.

I'm going to the floor. I will reinforce my Wedge brackets and make the seat sit on the bracket using the the Recaro side mounts. The side mount has to be modified to allow the seat to move to the next lower bolt position.

Nothing a drill, welder and grinder can't fix.

It will be adjustable back and forth I will just have to unbolt the seat to do it

Brand new Recaro sliders for sale....
