Halon is a fire fighting chemical that's supposed to be extremely effective. I think it's mostly used in industrial applications. Will post a link as soon as I find one and I'm still trying to post the pic of the bottle in my interior.

Woah, woah, woah... velcro? You better change that quick.. may seem strong enough now, but I've seen cars with extinguishers held in with metal brackets that came free in a collision... that's just asking for trouble..

umm, halon is for computer/technology applications...it works like FM200, it deletes the oxygen so the fire cannot burn

it would not work well for a car as that would be fueled by gasoline/oil.....might wanna rethink that one

it won't hurt your electrical and circuit boards, that's the only plus...oh yeah, and it's really expensive, we have them in the data center

i wouldn't think they'd work well in open atmosphere either, just a room of some sort

I hadn't occured to me that it might be dangerous in a collision. But I don't think it'll come loose. The straps are extra long and it's secured tight. I wouldn't have done it if it wasn't secured properly. Nevertheless it is something to think about.

As for Halon, one reason it is used on electrical because it leaves no residue. And I think it's used for engine fires. I wouldn't use it in the cockpit for the same reason 93Black pointed out.

Hose clamps maybe? Perhaps a little slow to undo in an emergency. And you'd have to find something parallel to mount it to. A quick release plastic clamp, like on ski boots, would be ideal.

In My 3'rd Gen FD I bought one of those $49 Dry Chemical ones, from APC (I know ricer central) but it was what I needed, and Home depot didn't have anything that was small enough... so anyhow it fits in my glove compartment, and since all I keep in there besides it are papers it's fine, doesn't rattle usually, and doesn't need mounting...

That's what I used to think too, but the simple fact is that Halon (mixed types) is the ultimate for extinguishing any kind of fire - even if it is not contained in a room. It's also insanely expensive (you get what you pay for.) and also damages the ozone.

You are INCORRECT. Halon is a very good fire extinguisher for any car fire.

As a matter of fact, many of the fire extinguishing systems in race cars use Halon.

Here is a link to one race car parts vendor who carries Halon fire extinguisher halon

Damn I'd hate to be where you work if there is a fire.
