just two piece of paper, one of them showing where to drill to mount the lights. I'm pretty sure these lights are not the one in the picture .on the green car

its hard to understand why a company would put out such an in-demand product... and then completely fail at providing high quality instructions.

its such a simple part of the process.

take lots of pics during an install, upload to company website with step-by-step instructions, send link to customers.

and/or

video record installation, edit down to necessary steps, post on youtube and send customers a link

in this day and age, there is no excuse for lack of instructions on a product, especially one costing $500+

Have you tried installing the lights first? Then put the shroud on.

Is Evo-R responding to anyone? I sent a couple of messages and no answer as of yet...

1QWIK7 11-26-11 07:46 PM

Damn wanna order this kit but all the negative feedback here is stopping me.

most of the time people with negative feedback post more than the people with positive comments... just my 2 cents...

now if they would only respond, i would be happier.

very true... but this kit is new, so not too many people even have this kit yet, and the ones that do have it 90% chance the found out about it through this thread, and therefore likely to post.

from what ive seen on this forum, evo and his light kits have a long history of poor response times and slightly off shroud fitments.

i think the only reason he gets a lot of business is because there arent many other readily available options on the market (for now)

knowing all that...i still might get them. i really like the look of this light kit, especially with the q45 lights, i think they would look really mean on my ride.... but i want to see a few installs finished by customers with their feedback, before pulling the trigger.

From what I remember of my genuine RR kit, the rear housing for the larger light was nowhere near that deep. Something is way out of whack for the light to sit that far forward out of the shroud.

You should post a pic of how the lights are sitting in the body without the shroud. Maybe there was some sort of installation error?

indio84 12-03-11 07:22 PM

again I'm not bashing evo-r here, but they need to correct the problem or provide a better instruction.

I did fix the problem but I went the extreme, cut the panel behind the light to make room to fit the lights.

I have to say the shroud is good, but the kit is not complete maybe evo-r need to offer a lower price for just the shroud be better that way everyone buy there own lights.
packaging was also very good. shipping was fairly good

this kit has potential, sexy as hell.

so with this I hope evo-r fix the problem and keep providing more parts for the fd3s.

i think that is meant to be done for this kit anyway... i think i remember him saying somewhere earlier in this thread that the kit requires cutting that area to fit.

regardless, it still needs to come with complete detailed photo/video instruction when you are selling a product for that much.

Any chance you guys will be making an aggressive version of these housings like the one in my avatar?

I'm only asking because I don't know if you know but the lights in your avatar are a kit that is already available through Attain if I recall correctly.

R Magic makes them not Attain and they cost $1300+ for their lights...

Gringo Grande 12-19-11 02:07 AM

That's who it is! R-Magic...and one of my friends has those on 2 of his FD's. Can't believe I couldn't remember the name.

Personally, I find that to be a very reasonable price for those lights, the R-Magics, and this thread is a great example of some of the pitfalls you may face with knock-offs. To each their own!

Yea that is true haha I guess the price isn't that bad since the kit includes everything :)

purerx7 12-19-11 07:26 PM

Not to mention the r-magic kit is also HID from PIAA which is quite expensive but I think retail is more like $1500 or $1600. Fitment isn't as great as I would expect on the r-magic kit for the price tag.

Well i bought a used pair of evo-r 60mm off a forum member here.

Finally installed it today (still have to drill the holes for the side brackets but all the wiring is done).

Looks great. Again, like everyone said fitment is NOT great yet not terrible.

With the hood closed, there is a good 1/4-3/8" gap towards the hood/fender area on both sides. Bumper side gap is normal or minimal.

I knew this before purchasing these lights so i cant complain. Not really noticeable unless you really look for it. Or another FD owner spots it lol

Attachment 722969

Will take pics of gaps if anyone is interested.

HID is kinda weak but then again the projector is small. I hardly drive the FD at night anyway, i just wanted to get rid of the pop ups and wanted a new look after almost 8 years lol

fd3s777 01-01-12 09:56 PM

Sorry guys. Been really busy setting up our Asia headquater here. Finally got the shop done. DId not have time to checkup here for awhile. I did not know on the 120MM light space is not enough. Sorry indio84 you had to figure out on your own. This is how rotary run racing had the kit exactly. I don't think there is any other 120MM lights that is thinner than that one we provide. Original RR kit uses PIAA lights with is thicker than ours. That you probabaly have to cut even more of your frame. I'll make sure to mention this on the new instruction. Thanks for the heads up.

indio84 01-02-12 10:22 AM

Hey evo, that would be great if you could provide better instructions. the shroud is vert good quality maybe could sell th shroud seperatly ? Let people choose there own lights.
On question i still have is , is thr lens cover suppose to be attach with only the solicone that you provided with the kit? I'm a little worried it would not hold good enough especially at high speeds.

Let me know if this os the way to do it.

Darkreign 01-28-12 12:08 AM

Are these lights still available? Haven't been able to contact anyone at Evo-r to order....

fd3s777 01-29-12 06:29 PM
