New Alpine 505

I decided to install this on my own (NO FUN) but the end result was nice. This head unit is the sh_t. For the FD guys I'm running Diamond Audio S600 HEX series in the doors and they fit with minor mods. You wouldn't even know they were there aside from the great sound.

Next I need to figure out how to mount the tweeters without cutting and still making it look OEM.

The car is non-bose so I took the factory enclosure (plastic piece) and cut the back off with a dremal tool and used the Diamond audio spacer and hot glued it to the enclosure. Mounted the speaker. Fits with no problem.

retail is $1100, their going on ebay for 900-1000. Thats a lot of coin for a headunit.

I was in the market for the Alpine CDA9887 because of the 24bit Burr Brown processor (supposed to be one of the best sound processors made) and the IMPRINT technology. (Suppose to automatically adjust the timing and sound stage for any type of car interior) When I found out that all of this was going to be available in a double din touch screen with NAV (add in), blue tooth (add in) and a sweet full speed IPOD interface (also thumb drives) I decided to wait. The only thing I wish I could do is change the color of the little blue LEDs at the bottom.
