New Alpine 505

I decided to install this on my own (NO FUN) but the end result was nice. This head unit is the sh_t. For the FD guys I'm running Diamond Audio S600 HEX series in the doors and they fit with minor mods. You wouldn't even know they were there aside from the great sound.

Next I need to figure out how to mount the tweeters without cutting and still making it look OEM.

looks good man did you make brackets or cage mount it?

phinsn98 05-13-08 11:50 PM

I used the factory cage from Alpine

how did you get the hexs in the door? the magnets on that speakers are huge. I had problems with my A/D/S speakers.

The car is non-bose so I took the factory enclosure (plastic piece) and cut the back off with a dremal tool and used the Diamond audio spacer and hot glued it to the enclosure. Mounted the speaker. Fits with no problem.

lol, you just HAD to tease us with the Fly pod, huh?

nice set up. The H/U install looks almost stock and Diamond Audio FTW!

wow....now i wish i would have waited! i have the 500... oh well looks great man! and i know ur pain its soooooo damn hard to make fit! it was pretty tight back there, i spent like a half hour trying to configure all the wires so the head unit would fit.

that looks so good, how much was that deck?

purerx7 05-15-08 08:29 AM

retail is $1100, their going on ebay for 900-1000. Thats a lot of coin for a headunit.

i need a new job..... lol

I was in the market for the Alpine CDA9887 because of the 24bit Burr Brown processor (supposed to be one of the best sound processors made) and the IMPRINT technology. (Suppose to automatically adjust the timing and sound stage for any type of car interior) When I found out that all of this was going to be available in a double din touch screen with NAV (add in), blue tooth (add in) and a sweet full speed IPOD interface (also thumb drives) I decided to wait. The only thing I wish I could do is change the color of the little blue LEDs at the bottom.
