Question Need some help with Fc hatch speakrs...(56k warning)

Okay so I got my fc this past sat, and went ahead and was gonna take out the old speakers and put in new ones, but when i went to do it, I noticed that the previous owner had attempted to put in aftermarket speakers and failed. So now I need to know witch wire is negative and witch is positive? Or if i should just lay down some thicker gauge wire(got like 20 feet of 16 gauge, just dont wanna rip up all the carpet). I read the FSM wiring diagram and it didnt help... it was saying yellow and brown and the wires are light blue so im lost....

Year:87 gxl, before the mid year change

can get better pics apon request..

Your better off running new wire, It depends on how big your amp and speakers, but since you have the wire. Run it. It will take some time to do, but it will sound better.

Well this is what it says in the 2nd gen faq:

What are the wire colors for adding aftermarket radio
LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory
LtBlue/Yellow= -power ant trigger
Red/Black=+ Lumination
White=Factory Amp Turn on

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio):
LtGreen/Red= Left
LtGreen/Black= Left

LtGreen= Right
LtGreen/Yellow=Right

Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle):
Brown= Left rear
Brown/White= Left Rear

LtBlue= Right Rear
LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear
It doesn't matter which wire you use for positive or negative as long as you are consistent and wire the deck the same way.

and by the way the 6 1/2 wont fit in the back unless you break all the black center out of them and cut away alot of the metal trust me on this i bought 6 1/2 and had to do this and would never do it again. I beleive 5 1/4 fit perfectly. You could just wire them up and then turn up your bass and see if it makes a difference if it dosnt there out of faze.

Some FCs came with 6.5" from the factory. These already have the proper mounting ring. Its possible that TheDarkRacer's FC came with these. If not, the mounting plates can be bought on the for sale section or on ebay.

i had rockford fosgate power 6 1/2's and they didnt want to fit and i had a 87 GTU and when i cut out the black surround you could see the cone (the silver part) and they looked damn good but the mounting bracket was for 5 1/4 and i didnt want to take the speakers back so i just cut the bracket with a dremel to make it fit.
