Need new fenders. Lightweight carbon options (FD3S)?
I have to put new fenders on my car. I'd like to lose some weight off the car in the process. Does anyone make a quality oem carbon copy?
Siebon makes an OEM carbon fender. Shine auto project also makes FRP ones that are oem but oversized 20mm. Have you ever felt an oem steel fender though? I literally have a set of oem as well as FRP fenders sitting beside me as I type this, and the weight difference is negligible. The stock fenders are pretty light.
Throw into consideration that most "Carbon Fiber" aka "Wet CF" is CF overlayed/mixed with or on other materials.
IIRC true "Dry" Carbon Fiber is what results in actually lighter weight pieces but the price of is exponentially higher.
I believe FEED makes a true, Dry Carbon Fiber Rear Hatch made to order and the price was 4k+ as opposed to the Seibon "Wet" version which, while lighter than stock, is only $1000 or so IIRC.
