Need help and/or advice with stereo (pictures)

When I bought my car about 1.5 year ago it had no stereo. There where a few loose wires from the dash and that was it. The dash was cut up really bad so I made a new wooden dashpiece and painted that black. This is the result

After I had figured out (try on error) what wire did what, I mounted a new amp (2x100W) under the passenger seat. (the original one was broken). I connected everything with those white blocks from which I don't know the english word (kroonsteentjes in dutch).

I've also installed a handsfree carkit for my cellphone.

As you can see there are to much wires. Just recently the stereo broke down. There was a lot of noise comming from the rearspeakers and I could hear the engine revving. It was the line-out connectors on the stereo. The printboard was broken.

So now I need a new stereo. I want to do it good this time. Does anyone know or give advice how I can best fix this mess. What kind of connectors should I use instead of the "kroonsteentjes". Should I keep it this way and just fix the wire-mess. Or should I start over again from scratch, and how do I go from there. Are there any howto's on the web concerning caraudio setup in a FC?

Thanks

Marco.
