My semi-custom mazdatrix window banner

So I bought this window banner from mt thinking that it would be just like their “ROTARY ENGINE” banner that I had previously purchased, but it is not. The edges are not rounded off smooth and it bubbles like crazy.

I figured that since I bought year specific for my car that it would fit the curve… hell no it didn’t, so I had to cut it up and lay it one chuck at a time. That didn’t really bother me I figured after 30+ min all this will pay off but I pealed it of and there they were… THE DAMN BUBBLES! This may be my flaw some on tell me if it is, but when I laid their other banner I had no problems. And yes I cleaned my window. I used window cleaner and then went over the spot with alcohol. Before I laid a section I would wipe the spot with finishing micro fiber to make sure.

the custom cut and lay

the bubbles.. you cant really see them from the outside unless you get up on it but very noticable from the inside

the other banner

is that vinyl right? if yes i had issues that the vinyl will not stick to the window if using window cleaner but i guess that didnt happen to you. Did you use soap and water, usually you should use a mix of water and soap (just a little bit of soap) to lay vinyl over anything so it doesnt have bubbles.

The best way to prevent bubbles on vynil graphics like those is to wet the area prior to installation. Not only does that allow you to intensely squeege the area (queezing out the air bubbles) but it will also give you a tad of mobility with the letters meaning you can slide them around a tad before you squeege.

You probably succeeded as well as you did on the "rotary engine" decal because the letters are thinner and less likely to catch air behind them because of that.

BTW I prefer to wet with glass cleaner because it evaporates faster than straight water.
