A lightened rear hatch...that'll save about 50lbs I think, won't it?

A lightened rear hatch/window should save alot more than that. Have you ever picked one up that's not attached to the car? Very heavy.

Just curious but why wouldn't a lexan rear glass be very streetable?

i think he means that a lexan rear glass isn't street legal.

Lexan also scratches easier does it not? This may be what he is referring to.

On the stock glass, they use some kind of glue to glue it on. Most race cars I have seen with the lexan window using screws or rivets to attach it. That means when it rains, the water will leak inside your car. The reason they use screws or rivets is because the lexan is not pre-formed to the curvature of the hatch. If you can find one that's made like the curvature of the stock rear glass, maybe you can glue it on like the stock glass. I don't know if there is going to be any chemical reaction though. Besides that, Lexan does scratch more easily than glass. It's a much softer and flexibale material.
