My little audio idea...

I think this would be cool ****. Just looking for ideas, suggestions, or opinions.

Well for X-mas I got an iPod Nano. Didn't really want one but it turns out to be really cool. I want to be able to hook it up to my car when driving around though.

I don't have a tape player or radio so that rules those out. I do remember seeing this awhile ago and it is exactly what I need.

Kinda expensive but very cool. Anyways... The iPod came with this little plastic piece that is supposed to work with other iPod **** but it holds the iPod at a nice little angle.

So I'm hoping to pick up one of these... (pic is huge)

Then cutting out spots for the iPod plastic piece, security light, mirror control, etc. It would sit right by the brake handle and behind the shifter. In other words it would sit right where the coin holder thing is facing straight back so both the passenger and driver could use it. It is easy to read right there and hopefully would look clean. (I really need to clean my interior)

i feel so proud that you used my pic of the cf switch panel.... anyways....
that would be a good idea to do and there are 2 ways of hooking it up to the radio.
1. you can buy a FM transmitter and plug it to the ipod headphone jack (cheapest)
2. you can buy a head unit that's ipod compatible (i think alpine has one - more expensive but better sound quality)

with that fm transmitter thingy it sounds good but you'll get the interference like the radio.

*edit* i just saw the mp3yourcar link and i'd say go for it. but where are you gonna put the transmitter? it's best to keep it close to the unit as possible

I have a Nano.
I cut out that coin tray in front of the security light, the I cut a peice of wood to fit around that adapter so that it was snug in that cut out. Then I glued both in place. Then I drilled a hole in the bottom of the adapter to line up with the headphone hole. Then I bout an aux cable and glued it in the hole so that when I plug in the iPod that cable plugs into the iPod. Then I wired it through my dash an into my head unit. You have to have a head unit that has an aux port though.

I will try and get some pics of it soon.

Sorry about using the pic. I hope you don't mind.

Well I don't have radio so that rules that option out.

The mp3yourcar.com thing is actually a direct plug that goes into your XM Ready head unit. I'm not going to be getting XM Radio so it isn't like I'm blocking it off. The cord will run to the control center area and will be glued to the bottom of the white piece to keep it from moving. That way I can just plug it in and pull it out when I get in and out without hassle.

I hope...

or you could just have the cord out loose so you can take it out with it plugged in, but when you set it in the holder, it sits normally. That base is pretty tight, it shouldn't move.

I'm in the process of making somthing similar for my FB.I'll be using the pioneer adapter and modifying the nano dock so that it will hold my nano with the protective case on it. I'll be thinking of where to mount it in the next few days. For now I'm modifying and painting that gay little dock peice.
