Gotta love a well put-together black FD, especially after it's had a bath!

thanks, Rob. the thing about brilliant black is that it goes from clean to dirty just as fast as it can go from 0-60. i couldn't keep this car clean for the life of me.

she hit 90,000 miles yesterday! it only took 14.5 years! i am now officially beginning to think she is getting old. she still looks timeless to me.

thanks for the compliment, lowboost. congrats on the good find. needing a new motor isnt always a bad thing. at least you will know that the motor is fresh, and unabused (depending on where you get the motor from or rebuilt.) plus you can upgrade the internals. not bad at all. good luck with the build. keep me posted on how things turn out for you.

when i get a paint job, im going to have them straighten my frame out; apparently it's off a little bit. this car needs so much body work, its just one more thing to add to the list. they measured the car with wights in the driver seat to cover my weight.

i had my last autocross event of the year, and i actually did well (by my standards.) i finished 4th out of 4, but im more then happy with it. i was running street tires, while the rest of the competitors in my class were on R-Comps, and my best time was 3.5-4 seconds off their best; so im more then happy with that.

my set up for the event:

Front-
Suspension: Dampening all the way to the right (stiffest)
Tires: 38psi
Rear-
Suspension: Dampening all the way to the right, left 2 clicks (stiffest, -2)
Tires: 38psi

the track alignment and new brake/clutch fluid (Motul RBF600) with new cluch master cylinder felt much better then the last event. i had much more confidence with this set up on street tires then i ever did before. i cant wait to get back out there next year, autocrossing was actually fun this past weekend.

here are some pics:

me, after 3 hours of sleep.

ill have a video up soon, with in car feet and hands, in car dash and out windshield, and a outside view (hopefully, ill have to see how my editing goes.) ill have official results up, so i can see how i did against everyone that raced. they're still not posted yet.

thanks low boost. shoot me a pm with some pics of how your car comes out.

well, anyone who has opened up this thread knows i love taking pictures of my cars. its not that i enjoy showing them off; its just that i enjoy documenting my builds and sharing it with the community. so i decided to take my girls out (with the help of my mom- i can only drive one car at a time; unfortunately.) i took a bunch of pictures, went home, uploaded them, and found out i shot them all in 640x480!!! what a bummer! well, im gonna go back to this spot (since its half a mile from where i live) and do it again with the right settings before i put the 7 away for the winter. well here's what i got: any feedback on the shots is welcome.

my car is still up for sale.

some sidenotes:
- i came in 3rd out of 15 at the Vermont Covered Bridge TSD rally in my Legacy in November.
-I turned 23 at the end of November and celebrated by buying myself dress shoes, shirts, sweaters, and dress pants. Wow, im beginning to feel old. i am actually looking forward to buying a nice jacket. where did my youth go?
-I am going to be servicing a rally car this saturday at a Rally Sprint in New York.
-I will be graduating at the end of this month with an Associates in Business Administration
-I got accepted into the Honors Program at Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst. i am just waiting to mail in my paperwork and i will be leaving in January.
-if i dont sell my car, i still have big plans for the FD. my build process has been significantly slowed down due to school. 2 more years, and ill have more money to play with (hopefully.)

Hey, does that hood allow more underhood clearance? I'm almost done with my 4G63 installation and I need some kinda hood scoop or a hood with more clearance. Thanks.

it actually reduced clearance. i had to bend my strut tower bar in the middle for it to clear the center between the middle vents. the scoot hood has even less clearance. im honestly not to sure of what hood you could go with. are you mounting the 4G63 vertical or horizontal?

Its mounted RWD position mated to a GM tranny with the 4G63 to GM adapter plate that Buschur Racing sells. I remember somewhere they used to sell a "FC style" FD hood. It had a little hood scoop in the middle like the FC's. That woulda been perfect, dont see them anywhere now though.

its that time of year again! time to dust of the snow, throw on the steering wheel, and get this baby going for race season!

so i went to start the car today, and not much to my surprise, my WestCo Mini Miata battery was dead (pretty much FUBAR.) i took the battery out for the winter, and pretty much forgot about it. i put it in hooked up the charger, it cranked over a couple times, then nothing. after some time trying to charge it with jumper cables i decided to bring it to the auto store to see how dead it was. didnt even register. i bought a trickle charger to charge it over the weekend, and it wouldnt even show that anything was attached. its pretty much as good as a 23lb paper weight. meh, at least i got 9months out of it. this is the last winter i make the expensive mistake of forgetting the trickle charger.

well, with that, i needed a new battery. I ordered a Braille 11.5 pound battery, with Power Protector (that shuts down at a certain level to assure that it doesnt die) and a mounting kit. i guess the best thing to come out of my dead battery is a weightloss of 10+ pounds.

the car will be on the road in April and there are some minor maintenance things i need to take care of.

my list for April is:
- New Battery and accessories
- Replace Hi-Flo cat with Midpipe
- Replace belts
- Remove Airpump
- Remove ABS
- Tune
- Dual Setrab 25 Row Oil Coolers (we'll see how the budget looks)

i cant wait to get my baby back on the road. i sat in her today for the first time in months and it feels good. ill keep you guys posted.

nice car man!

question about your dash gauge pod: does it hold 52mm or 60 mm?

thats a Tri-Power dual gauge pod that holds 2 52mm gauges. you can get it from Ari at RX7.com. someone on the forum made some in carbon fiber recently, but im not sure of the size or if they are still for sale.

i think ive seen one that holds 60mm, and can hold up to 4 gauges. im not sure of the name though.

thanks for the compliment.

Why is your logo virtually identical to Drift Alliance?

thanks for the compliment.

DK- ive answered that question too many times. simlarities, sure. virtually identical, no. im not making money off of it, so i dont see any legal issues yet. my girlfriend (graphic designer) and i are working on a new, 'more original' logo for 2008. that was a last minute design and i actually like it a lot. but we'll come up with something. thanks for the heads up.
