its a custom one off Carbon Fiber panel. they took a piece of Hayame carbon fiber, figured out where they wanted to install everything, and cut it to fit in the glove box with holes for wires or spots to flush the pieces with. it is screwed to the side of the glove box to keep it in place. the EVC control piece is attached by velcro so i can take it out to adjust it without having to get in on the passenger side.

i cant imagine it would be that hard with the carbon fiber, the right tools and some patience.

if i had to do it, id get a piece of cardboard and figure out how i want it to sit in the glove box then cut the shape out. then id take my electronics and see where i want to place them and how i want to run them and trace them onto the cardboard to show where i want them. i would then take my carbon fiber piece and trace my cardboard template onto it. i would then cut it out and test fit it into the glove box. id make it a little bit bigger at first because its easier to adjust size down then it is to adjust size up . then cut out the holes for electronics, run the wires, sit back and bask in your work. good luck. if you do it, let me know how it comes out.

I found a company that sells a 5.5"x11.5" rigid plate...$25

could you do me a favor and take dimensions of yours...just so I have a ballpark view, TIA.

so, I'll be ordering and triming...and cutting etc.
I've got a dual EGT gauge, WB-O2 monitor, TT, and a dual 12V pwr source I need to mount. I'll probably mount the plate a little slanted toward the driver. Mainly for dyno tuning purposes...but street tuning with a passenger...they should be able to view it easily.

here is an example, not the $25 plate...should look good.

its already lowered, i just need a smaller profile tire. i have 255/50's in the rear and 245/50's in the front. once i kill these tires, im going to get something more like 245/45/16 all around. i want wider tires, but ill have to wait til i get a new set of rims, and im really in no rush.

edit- your aren't referring to the picture of the car on the lift, right?

good news for Rotary Amuse! (and no i didnt mean for that to rhyme.)

i have a Team Support Sponsorship from Sparco.
i am currently trying to sell my Torinos, and replace them with a single Sparco Evo and a Corbeau Seat Mounts.

I found out last week that my input shaft, bearing, and seal might be shot. Jesse was finishing up on my transmission and found this out. he's bringing my transmission to work with him on Monday (he works for a Mazda dealership- be thankful that there is actually one Mazda Technician that knows how to work on rotaries ) and hes going to see exactly what i need. im going to be ordering all these parts from MazdaSpeed once i find out what i need.

the neverending rotary story! it never ends. Ill be the Atreyu to the Flying M, and the RX-7 will be the princess. god, that's cheesy.
i think i might love my car way too much.

www.SparcoUSA.com
www.MidAtlanticTrading.com

and my g/f (my graphic designer for all my projects) now has her website up.
she is also one of Rotary Amuse' leading sponsors, but shes the only one that accepts dinners and massages as payment . she can do Graphic Designing if anyone needs it. This site is mainly her resume, but her contact info is on there if you need anything done. *NOTE* she only accepts dinners and massages as payments from me, so dont get any funny ideas. got it?!

don't get torino's, they're chunky ! i'd say pick up some actual 1 piece bucket seats if you'll be investing in them. otherwise, just keep the stock seats !

but i have torinos in my car now? i am looking for a bucket seat, most likely the Evo or Sprint. either seat will save me 20lbs, and 60lbs over all, since im only going to be using one racing bucket seat and no passenger seat.

the Sparco Torinos are sold and soon to be out of the 7.

after i officially sell them this weekend, i am picking up a cheap, FIA approved Sparco Sprint seat. my car isn't ready to be raced yet, so the seat will pretty much be a stand in until i pick up a Sparco Evo seat in the Spring. i dont think my mechanic really needs the support driving it in and out of the garage .

I dont know if anyone's into rally racing, but Rotary Amuse is! i am registering for a SCCA TSD Road Rally in Vermont on February 10th. It's a night time rally that's running from 8:30 at night til 5:30 in the morning. I will be running my daily driven Legacy GT, and am trying to figure out a sturdy fog light set up so i can see a little bit better over the snow/ice covered roads. I am picking up two 6" Hella fog lights, but i haven't fully figured out how i'm going to install them. i'll let you know how it turns out.

The 1995 glove boxes are a little different...but you can see what I'm trying to do here. Still have to cut holes for the TT and dual 12V source.

HOLY ****!!!!!!!

is that your glove box?! that looks so much better then mine! forgive me for not being able to get the proper measurements for you; i've been busy with an intersession class (4 hours each day m-f, 2 essays each night) and setting up my other car for a rally event in February. if that's your set up, it doesnt look like you need my help anymore (if for some reason you still do, im going down to see my car next on January 27th, and i can get more pics or measurements for you.) i must say, though, very good looking set up!

I have sold my 2 Sparco Torino Seats.
i will be ordering, sometime this week,:
-a Sparco Evo for my driver side
-Sparco Sprint for my passenger side
...(both FIA aproved and under 18lbs each)
-Autopower Race Roll Bar with optional removable cross brace

it wasnt my intention to buy two seats, but with most sanctioned racing bodies, i will need a seat for a mandatory instructor, at least until i get my racing license.

My mechanic is making a list for what i need for my transmission, and by the sounds of it, it's looking like i need a new input shaft and all the hardware that goes with it. I will be ordering that as soon as i get the list.

After all this, my car will meet the safety requirements for NASA, SCCA, COM, and CART-CT. So i will be ready for my 2007 race season.

i was considering doing a body vinyl with a custom MazdaSpeed 'argyle' look (like the Mazda 787B orange and green theme,) but i am going to wait until my car is fully squared away with safety equipment before i spend money on looks.

yes, that is my glove box (although gloves won't fit in it any more...I'll call it my tool box, ha)

thanks for the props! lots of hard work...I hate this kind of work too. No worries about the measurements, I figured it out...focus on education

thanks Rich- i cant quit this thing after getting so involved in it. i might as well finish it and have some fun with it on the track. (psssh- as if it'a chore )

dubulup- i can tell that you put a lot of work into it. again, it looks really good. drop a picture when it's 100% finished. ill have to steal your term of tool box, since gloves really no longer fit in mine either. i can always get technical and just call it my electronics holder. sure, why not?

i ordered a majority of my equipment for Race Season '07 today:
-Sparco Evo Seat and Sparco Sprint Seat: 2 Weeks out (Blk Sprint seats on back order)
-MemoryFab Super Low Seat Bracket: 4-6 weeks out (needs to be made in Japan, then imported to me.)
-Sparco Single Sub Belts: To convert my 4 pt. Cam Locks to 5 pt. Harnesses (To meet COM Racing Rules)
-Autopower Race Roll Bar: 3-4 weeks out (must be produced then sent to IO Port Racing, then sent to me.)

Still To Order:
-Roll Bar Padding
-Nomex or Carbon-X Underwear: (pants, Longsleeve Shirt, Hood, and Socks.)
-Nomex Race Gloves
-Anatomical Neck Collar

ill do write ups once everything comes in and once i have it installed, along with pictures. I had a hard time trying to figure out a good race set up, so if this works out, it could possibly benefit more FD owners.

not a chance...with as much pain this type of work brings me, you'll have to pry it from my cold fingers. I don't know why but I can't stand this type of work...hated putting the side skirts on...hated intalling the rear diffuser...hate this little piece

the seats came in today:

Sparco Evo and Sparco Sprint
i wouldve gotten matching seats, but i really dont care too much about my passengers comfort the Evo's scream "hug me." despite the huge price difference from the Evo and Sprint, the Sprint is still pretty comfortable (if you can fit in them) im a size 32, and i just barely fit.

You're purchasing some serious equipment, I hope to see ya at some track events this year. I'm just getting my feet wet on east coast courses, where are you planning on spending most of your time, Lime Rock?

im planning on only running time trials this year, until i get my race license; then i need a roll cage and its rubbin' paint time ! im planning on running with NASA, SCCA, COM, and CART-CT. im running different sanctions, cause im not too concerned about placing or getting points this season. i love Lime Rock, its a lot of fun and its the closest to my house; so im probably only going to be racing there. i ran one time trial event there last year, and had a lot of fun at the track; 'easy' flow, good speed, clean, all in all a great track. i might hit up NHIS with COM this year, but not having a truck and trailer makes me a little bit nervous about being that far from home. i do have some connections for a tow if anything happens, but id rather it not come down to that. which reminds me, i should probably get Triple A.

if you go to any events, let me know. i hunt down RX-7's like its my day job, so if you're there, im sure i wont miss you.

ill get some pictures once everythings installed. especially of the autopower roll bar installed. i had the hardest time trying to find pictures of it anywhere.
