muffler "smoot" removal from bumper

What are people using to get the soot off FD rear bumpers lately? I don't have any simple green handy, which is what I heard works well, and I'm not sure what purple power degreaser will do to paint. what do you use?

Watch out using Simple Green! It can ruin things in a hurry if you're not careful. It can dull your paint and if any runs down onto your muffler tips and you don't get it off good and it sets and dries, it will tarnish it. I use the same thing here as I do on that front bumper...Tint-Safe Glass cleaner, then go back over it with a damp wet warm cloth and then a detailer to bring out the shine. Just a tip. -Brad

I've always used Castrol Super Clean. Wet rear bumper, spray on, wipe with sponge, hose off. Takes like 30 seconds tops. Used it for YEARS with no ill effects to the paint.
