Good 4 inch speakers?

i bought shitty but adequate 6.5" speakers for my tower speakers and installed a new head unit but now i just need better 4" speakers for the dash. i'm not looking to spend too much, maybe $80/pair. any suggestions? where can i buy speakers online? i either can't find stuff online for squat or i'm just plain blind.

well you're not going to get much range out of 4" speakers but get some Alpine's. Look on Ebay I got my 6.5" Alpine for $45 shipped on Ebay

can i fit 6.5's in the front? switching to 6.5's in the towers helped alot, even with crappy speakers but the front just distort whenever i turn the bass or volume too high.

if dont see the speaker grill then you dont have door speaker. Some S4 rx7 came with optional 6 speakers if im not mistaken.

i would say 4" alpine speaker would be fine and you get them at best buy for like $45-$49

the front are usually alot cheaper than the front. The rear speaker can handle up to 6 - 6.5" if i am not mistake again. The rear usually goes for more than the front. I would go to crutch field to select the speaker instead of ebay. Also these are the speaker that i recommend:
Infinity
Kenwood
Alpine
Pioneer

well u have to look at the acoustics of the s 4 ... ui have the tower speakers medeoker quality ... but they are larger and facine glass best know material to reflet and amplify sound .... and your dash speakers ... much smaller and facing ur knee caps ... not exactly the most dynamic place for them but hey it works /...so yes in theroy u will throw off the balance of your sound but in this case u have many factors evening things out .... its all a matter of preferance and budjet when it comes to mobile audio .. thats y there is such a broad market for it u have to think .. am i amping my speakers?.. if so how clear do i want it .. loud is just lamens terms for distorted ..... i have a rediculous system in my 7 and its not nearly as loud as id want it but its preaty damn clear ... and it will rattle the little hairs in ur nose and ears but my point is .. do whatever suits ur needs the most and sound seperation realy isnt somthing to consider when u are doing budget audio ... simple rule of thumb for everything is u pay for what u get ... unless ur buying stolen stuff witch i dont recomend neways (bad karma) ... but yeah do whatever suits ur needs and my sudgestion to you is .. dont buy off the internet .. go to a licence dealer store ... much less hassle and the salles reps can usualy answer all your questions .. remember they are paid minimum wage to know everything about the product lol ... but yeah good luck with everything

infinity kappa are awesome speakers but need some more power than a stock cd player can give them...they dont need 100 watts each but i think just a little more than 25-40 which a typical cd player can push is needed to get the range and quality you want out of them....
i have them and they are the best "front " speakers i have ever heard......
thats what i am planning on getting for it...

I have Inifinity References 6½ at rear and Infinity Kappas 5¼ in the dash. They're powered by an Alpine Amplifier. And I can barely hear my front speakers compared to my rear --> they face downward!

I highly recommend to take some more time to fit the 6½ speakers in your doors. You'll need to do some cuting and fitting, but the result will be much better in my opinion.

Good luck with your system.

I have 6½" Pioneer speakers in the doors. I currently have no dash speakers and my rear speakers are ***.
I wanted to try and put little subs in the rear towers. Is that possible? I was thinking 8" for the towers, but IDK if it will fit depth wise.
I was looking at these for subs for the rear towers: Rockford Fosgate Punch 8" 4-ohm subwoofer
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-34SeCno...520&I=575P18S4

Would that work for the two rear towers?

I know some people on the forum put 8" subs in their rear towers. You must only be careful with the depht of the subs.

did they drill into the original housing or make a wooden ring? it'd be interesting to see how 8" subs work in the towers.

Pioneer or sony

they give some good sound, but if you want it really loud, fade it towards the back because 6" speakers can handle the volume better.

8s are decient and good if you dont want the weight of a big sub sound good most places i know of fiberglass a bracket into the tower to make a basic bass tube.
