modifying a head unit's display color
I have an Alpine CD head unit that came with my 3rd gen. I like the unit other than the green display. I assume there is no cost effective (meaning less expensive than buying a new head unit) way of changing this, even after taking the stereo apart?
Assuming the answer to above is no, what about putting a colored film over the green LCD screen and colored finger nail polish over the lit buttons? I know yellow + blue = green, but can anyone solve for "x" in the following equation:
green + x = amber?
I should point out I am color blind to a small extent, so if above sounds like a dumb question, you know why

I'm gonna say probably not. The HU is probably lit with a green LED source, so the light emmitted would be green and very narrow in spectrum. Putting a non-green film over it would just filter out the green and leave you with next to nothing.
If you were very crafty, you might be able to change the backlight LED's to another color. But that would require very intricate work, and it would never go back together the same again.
It seems many of us have been wishing for a good hi-HU with red/amber displays. Now everything is blue! :P
