Mixing/Matching Autometer Gauge parts

My cheapo mechanical #2401 Autometer boost gauge is dying. It leaks pressure and reads 1.5psi high. I do like the fact it matches the stock gauges very well.

I'm thinking about replacing it with a #3376 Autometer and trying to swap the chrome trim onto the new gauge. Has anyone tried this?

Also, it's a $160 electrical gauge. Is the quality good?

I personally dislike autometer. I have the autometer mech boost gauge. I haven't actually had problems with it yet... but I know people who bought their gauges, installed em, and within the first week, the gauge breaks...

I'd look for something different...

Thanks but the Autometer electric stepper-motor gauges are considered to be much better quality and have no complaints I could find in searches. For $170 they should be. If I stay with Autometer it will match the water temp gauge already on the pillar pod. I'll probably try to take apart my mech. boost gauge tonight and see how hard the chrome trim is to remove.
